Not sure what to do here

Post by Liverpool »

Hi everyone,

I think I posted something in the wrong place, I am new to this and I wanted to join in with the October buddies so I hope I have come to the right place.

This is our first time using IVF and I feel quite shell shocked by it all and rather confused so I am hoping for some advice. I started my menopur injections last Friday ( 4 sachets per one injection) plus 2 different tablets, went to the Clinic on Tuesday morning for a scan and they said my follicles hadn't grown much at all, infact I dont think there was anything there. They put me on 6 sachets and we went back again this morning and great news my lovely follicles are growing nicely. I dont think there were many but nevertheless they were quite happy. We go back again on Saturday morning for another scan and they reckon I will be ready to take the cetrotide injections. What happens then?????????????. Its such a roller coaster ride isn't it, one minute you are up the next you are down, well I am anyway. I find it all so hard to take in as I have wanted a baby for so long and now I have a chance I am terrifed it fails. I am sure this medication isn't helping the mood swings, one day I could cry for hours then next I am fine, I feel so tired and moody. I sound like a big girls blouse dont I ...................... I am scared to be excited.

Anyway looking forward to hearing from you and best of luck to you all.

Tracie

Welcome to the site and the October ladies.

I'm afraid I was on a different set of drugs to you so I can't help with your particular protocol, but know that there will be somebody here who can help.

Take care of yourself and don't worry about those mood swings - I think there are a lot of us here who have experienced them in one form or another!!

Good luck with the treatment

Hi Tracie

I haven't used your drugs, but I am doing a Cetrotide protocol too next cycle. When you start the Cetrotide you'll just continue with the Menopur inj too (they may alter the dose, according to your daily/bi-daily blood results). When you have 3 follicles at least 18mm you'll be almost cooked. You'll then do a late night HCG injection (maybe Pregnyl) and stop the Menopur/Cetrotide at that point. 36 hours after HCG inj you'll be having egg collection ! Then - dependent on your clinc - embryo replacement is usually between 2-5 days later.

You'll soon get into the swing of it .... It's amazing how us women adapt ! Lots and lots of luck Tracie !!

I know camilla - itchy trigger finger.

Walshy - sorry it hasn't worked out the way you wanted but don't blame yourself. It all seems so random, this ivf lark. And dont get me started on the whole unfairness merry-go-round. Everything will work out in the end - we must all believe that I guess or what would be doing here? Anyway, sending you lots of love.

Steph thats a good idea about keeping track - we're all over the shop, a bit ooh a bit ahh. Any takers??

Welcome Tracie!

Debra - you keep your hands to yo bad self girlfriend.

Well, had me scan today and I'm supressed. Official. Forgot to do the Stimmer chant as too distracted wondering if it was proper scan ettiquette to take your socks off or not. Advice please. I chose off but it was a bit nippy in there. Anyhows, I'm starting stimmers tonight with the Puregon pen of Power. How did you get on Stehanie?
I'm exhausted, have not slept properly since starting the buserelin - quick! ring Norris McWerter.

Hope all my October buddies are feeling good n up n happy
Mucho love

Hi Everyone! Sorry to just barge in...I'm just looking for that ever needed moral support we've all heard so much about. I hope I'm posting in the right place...

I'm going through my first IVF ever and had my ER yesterday. I'm going nuts waiting for ET, I can't even imagine how I'll be for the 2ww.

I'm 31 and DH is 30 and I've been ttc for as long as I can remember. I had severly blocked tubes due to endo and had my tubes removed in September in prep. for IVF.

Just looking to share my OVERFLOWING emotions...DH can only take so much!

Heathero

Welcome here and ask as many questions as you need.

When you have your ET, there is a thread called October 2ww where all ladies playing the waiting game share their experiences daily - you might find it helps with all the anxieties.

How many eggs did they retrieve - do you know if you are having a 3-day or 5-day transfer.

Take care of yourself and here's to a good fertilisation.

Hi Girls, Back again, bored at work...... SShhhh! Don't tell my boss.

Lola- stim away! Luck to ya.

Tracy- welcome.

Heathero- So much in common, we have. First IVF this month, endo at root of the problem, ages similar (just a smidge younger at 28 ) and our complete lack of patience! He, he. Plus, since you are calling it ER and ET I am assuming you are also from the states. I cannot tell a lie- the wait is excrutiating. I would rather lay down with snakes and be chased by geese (my phobias, yes geese, really) than go through the wait again. Try to stay busy, because if you stay busy.......... well, you will still think about it every second! Sorry, I was always told I was too honest. But, if you are lucky and touched by an angel, it will be totally worth it! Every blasted second. By the by, if you do get a BFP, then you get to wait on pins and needles for your first ultrasound. Let the fun begin! Good luck to you.
Trying to be funny- hope it doesn't offend. Humor is my coping mechanism

Steph--

You crack me up! If not for humor I don't know if I could make it through this! I've been pretty good up to this point not obsessing, but man since yesterday it's all I can do to concentrate...well concentrate may be pushing it a little, considering I'm at work and haven't done a darn thing all day except read and post on infertility boards. Where are you in the process? How many cycles have you gone through?

Anyway, you're right, I'm in the states, Los Angeles to be exact. Good place to be if you can't make babies on your own, there's a IVF clinic on every corner...well not exactly but close! I read about people having to qualify to get accepted into a program. What a nightmare that would be! It's not enough that you're dying to have a baby, but then the clinics make you prove it!

Anyhoo, Little P, thanks for the advice on the 2ww board. I got 8 eggs yesterday which (please don't think I'm being selfish) was alot less than we hoped. Our RE kept saying we had lots of eggs so 8 just seems low, that's all. We're crossing our fingers and are looking forward to calling and checking on them tonight.
We're doing a 3 day transfer, so Saturday's the day. Good luck to both of you, would love to hear from you again!

Hi All

Lola, you make me laugh so much!!! Have first scan tomorrow and now I'm wondering socks on or off!!

Congratulations to Nes and Steph!!

Thanks Camilla for PM, nice to know you're watching out for me, hope all ok for you x

Finding it hard to make time to go on boards in week, only on now cos I can't sleep. Should be easier next week as I have week off for half term. Plan to take it easy. Should also have date for EC tomorrow which I am expecting to be next week. Hard to keep track cos everyone seems to be on different protocol.

Anyway will try to catch up with everyone more at weekend. take care.

Hi Oct Buddies,

First off Lola, I have to say socks off. This was because I didn't think about that when I had a scan and it wasn't until I realised that my dr. was laughing so hard he couldn't scan me that I realised I was wearing my knee high purple and black socks!!   After that experience I have always taken my socks off but then I started wondering about what colour toe nail polish!!

Well it all sounds like you are all doing great. I am a 2wwer at the moment due to test on Monday but have to confess tested this morning  and got a v. faint line. Big mistake to test early because now my hopes are raised even more so it could be a big let down on Monday. Also, even if it is showing accurately at the moment, I often miscarry early so it doesn't mean I have a viable pregnancy anyway. My head is all over the place so let this be a lesoon to you girls not to test early.

On a slightly obsessed note the HPT is next to me at the moment and I keep squinting at it to make sure I do see something rather than imagining it!!!  Just looked again!

Better go obsess in private now, take care everyone,

Anna

Anne,

Best of luck for Monday, it does sound quite positive though. I will hopefully be having my EC next week so I guess my 2ww will be the week after. Thank goodness Patricia Cornwell brings out her new book at the end of October, her books scare me whitless (cant spell that one) so it will keep my mind occupied. Let us know on Monday how you got on. Thinking of you and have a calm weekend

Hi Girls

Lola and Stephanie - Good luck with the stims. I want to join in! Has to be next week surely?!!

Leigh - Good to hear from you, best of luck with your scan.

Re socks on/off for scan - I've always been more concerned about hairy legs! I usually wax my legs so there is always about a week when they're not ready for de-fuzzing and I keep them hidden! However I shall have to think about that when doing EC and ET as want to look my best for the nice doctor. Definitely paint toenails, I think.

Bye for now hormone pals.
