Hi everyone

Mind if I join you all? I had my Prostap injection yesterday. Apparently I'm likely to feel gr8 for 2/3 days, then somewhat weepy & stroppy  Still, I'm planning on no side effects!!!! Yeah right! What did you all go through? Anything I should be doing specifically? I'm taking folic acid (of course!), don't smoke, eat pretty well. See some of you are drinking gallons of water and doing marathon pelvic floor exercises....maybe I should be doing that too? :?

Anyway, must try not to get carried away (I do go on a bit!) They are anticipating EC on w/c 21/11, so fingers crossed, it'll all go according to plan.

LOL

Hello everyone!

I have just joined this site and am still finding my feet with it all.

Fingers crossed I should be going through a second attempt at ICSI in November. I am currently on the pill and my first scan is due on November 10th so all being well should start treatment then.

I was a bit of a mess for a while when the last attempt was unsuccessful but now I am feeling positive and looking towards the next go. Would so love to be pregnant for Christmas, it will be a dream come true!

I haven't had much chance to look at too many messages yet on this site but the ones I have looked at I have really been able to relate to. I can really relate to the girls who feel antisocial. I have so many babies around me at the moment too! Both my sister in laws have just had babies, and also my best friend. You just can't help but think, why can't it be me?

Would really love to chat to anyone over email too. My email address is gemma.d.taylor@hotmail.co.uk.

Welcome April, Lavender, & Gemma.

Hope everyone else is doing fine, I m going for my HCG scan on Oct 28th just can't wait to know my dates.

Does anyone know how do we choose whether we want embies or blasto, should I request my doc for blasto or will they suggest? I have been thinking for going for the blasto but just not very sure how is it decided. Will appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

Good luck all of us girls..........

love

The reason I said first AND ONLY IVF cycle is because it's going to work the first time!!!! :D :D

I just took my first Lupron shot -- not bad, I can deal with the little ones. It's the progesterone shots in the muscle that I am soooo scared of. Can anyone tell me they're not so bad?????

Hi guys and welcome all newbies :D
Just an update - went for scan on friday to see if AF was due, it showed thick endo and 12 follies :? - I asked if this was normal and the nurses said no but didn't know why - if anyone else has experienced this let me know. I'm not on stims yet just down regging. Anyway AF still hasn't shown and they're putting me on tablets for a week, then stop then AF hopefully. The upshot is that I'll be ec at the end of november, at the earliest. Pretty bummed by this as I really wanted all te 2ww and stuff out of the way before december. DH and I were not overly happy last night - but as always you just get on with it. Fingers crossed all will go ok and according to plan now. Still on daily buserelin injection - my poor bum !

Hi Guys

This website is just the best - am so confused half the time, and scared out of my brain the other half but manage to find answers and comfort from you all.

Eventually came on 12 days after taking the first lot of injections, with the worst PMT I've had for years, not to mention carbuncles for spots on my face and terrible cramps. My day 4 blood test is booked for Thursday and then I'll be able to find out when I start the Menopur injections.

Am hope for egg recovery and et around 7th-10th Nov but have learntthis is not an exact science so am just dealing with each step at a time.

I wish you all really good luck, tons of PMA and thanks for reminding me to keep up the water intake!!

Bye for now

Chel, just a quick reply to your blasto query. Usually it will be the doctor who will suggest a blasto transfer and this all depends on the quality and quantity of your embryos. My clinic has a very well-established blasto programme yet only 33% of women actually have a blasto transfer. I’m one of those ‘lucky’ women who produce high quality eggs that always get to blasto stage, however after 3 ICSI attempts each time with a day-5 transfer this has not given me a BFP.

The way my clinic works is like this: they assess the embies at day 2 and start thinking about whether they are likely to make blasto stage. I automatically get put on the blasto list because of past performance. On day 3 they will advise me how they are doing. On day 4 they call me again and either tell me to come in for ET, or just confirm that day 5 will go ahead. They set limits though – to be considered for blasto you need at least 7 good quality embies. There is a risk with blasto – firstly none of them might make it, so you have a very slight risk of having nothing to transfer. However, by monitoring daily this is unlikely. Secondly, usually you won’t have any left to freeze as they pick the best blastos on Day 5 and usually the rest are deemed to be not good enough to freeze, or it may well be that on day 5 you have just the 2 blastos. I was lucky this time as I had 9 blastos left on day 5, so 2 got transferred and 7 frozen for my FET.

My clinic’s success rate with blastos is over 50% as opposed to their 40-odd with day 3 transfers. They say this is because transferring on day 5 mimics the natural conception stage more closely. Really it’s down to your doctor as to whether he feels your embies are of sufficient quality AND quantity to risk letting them go to day 5.

Hello to all and welcome to the newbies.... good luck

i've been away for a few days and as usual I am still catching up with all the postings from you guys.... Image

eskavon- sounds like your ivf train is not going to schedule. Sorry to herre your 2ww will be oput back until the end of Nov. I know you are unhappy about this but yoour right about having to get on with it Mother Nature has her own time table. I have put a story on daily positive thoughts for you, a bit karmic, but things I feel aleays happen for a reason. At least the 2ww will be over before Christmas and you'll have a BFP to celebrate.

On injections...whose doing them Penny? you or DH? Image
Homeopathic arnica cream from the chemists or boots is safe to use and does help with the bruised sore bum!

DANCOLA- hi.... good to hear from you again.

alyG- Good luck for your thursday blood test. Then you will be on the next stage!!!!

jkos- can't help you girl on progesterone shots but i did have megagon stimmimg inj into the muscle and they were fine. I used Arnica cream to help with any sore achy bits or bruising. It's homeopathic and save to use. GOOD LUCK.

Chel....I didn't get a choice of embies or blast i was told they would choose. But why don't you phone up and ask? Or talk to your consultant at next meeting? GOOD LUCK.

April78- I will post your test date on the november test thread for you. Good luck sweetie on your 2ww. Keep your chin up and let us know how you are getting on. (((((((((big HUG)))))))))))

Lavender, Gemma and everyone else that I haven't metioned. Image HELLO and BIG HUGs.

Hi Jen
Thanks for the positiveness, have read the positive thoughts - very bizarre but amazing too.....
Dh is doing the injections in my bum, lucky him   I'm doing ok but tend to freeze the area with ice pack first - don't know which is worst the ice pack or the needle. I must say I am a puff when it comes to jabs - as many of you already know   and the thought of them going on for almost six weeks is a sickener but focusing on the positive outcome you've suggested. Lets hope we all get the Christmas pressies we long for.

Penny

I know you're disappointed about the delay, but try and focus on that extra special "stocking filler" this year - I reckon Santa's deliveries are going to weigh just a little more this year :D

Take care of yourself and good luck with the injections. I sympathise totally as I hate injections.

Big hugs

Little P

Hope all you November Ladies are taking care and things are moving smoothly forwards for you all.
