Hi,

Debra I've just read your news I am so sorry these last few days must have been terrible for you, but i suppose getting the blood test and brought closure to it and now you can grieve, start to heal and move forward. You are in my thoughts, take good care of yourself.

Kaite, I've everything crossed for you lots of PMA and baby dust coming your way.

Kat good luck for Sunday and Tuesday, I'll be thinking of you.

Hope everyone else is OK.

Love,

Jane

Katie,
Your day is only hours away! Debra is right... all our money is riding on you right now! (no pressure  ) This group soooooo needs something positive to happen. I pray you break our recent run of bad luck.

Kat,
Wow! Your ET seems to have just popped up. How great! Just a few days away now, you must be getting excited. Is your dh okay with the no-sex days preceding his "contribution"? We were told to abstain 3-5 days prior. My dh thought that was unnecessary, but I insisted we do what they said.

Hello to everyone else. Hope you are doing okay.

This is my first fall in the Pacific Northwest and I have to say, I never knew it could look like this. I thought leaves of these colors were only in picture books or postcards. It's truly breathtaking. What is it like where you all are?

We are dressing up as Austin Powers and Elizabeth Hurley (yeah, right) for Halloween. We have to work on our British accents. As you've probably guessed by now, I have a Texas accent, so I need the most work. Like, I can't say "fixin dinner." I guess ya'll would say, "making dinner or preparing dinner." And ya'll wouldn't say ya'll, it would be "you all"??? Help me out here. What are some other British phrases and slang? I know about "bloody" you say that when you are mad, right? I want to sound hip.

Hi

Can't sleep so I've got up early to do stuff. Not sure what yet - finish packing I suppose. We leave for the airport at 5 this pm, fly at 7.15 (we live 30 mins away max)

When I got the call yesterday lunchtime, whilst walking up to Tesco to get a sandwich, apparently I went white as a sheet - luckily the friend I was with knows what's going on or I would have had to try & think of something double quick! So we spent the first part of the afternoon at his desk pretending I was handing over work for while I'm on holiday when I was actually booking the flights and hotel (not cheap at that short notice, I can tell you). I had actually booked the week off anyway as I knew it was going to be around this time so I just told my team I had decided to take the week after all, so they don't think I'm too mad. My boss is very excited and I am so lucky she has been so supportive, I read posts about people with horrid bosses and that must add to the stress so much.

As we didn't know when we were going we haven't really 'prepared' in the way of no sex but luckily it has worked out fine timing-wise and will be 5 days which they say is good. And I haven't had too much time to get excited or otherwise. I am trying just to worry about each stage as it comes and not think about the next stage. So right this minute it is quality of sperm and then after DH has 'performed' it will be fertilisation and so on.
It's 75(23) degrees in Barcelona (with some showers) at the moment so just as it's starting to get colder here (leaves have started turning but nothing spectacular, it has been so warm they are late this year), I'll get a bit of sunshine. They recommend complete bedrest after ET so I hope I can do it under a parasol rather than stuck in the room. Have to think of entertainment for DH or he will get bored & fidgety so I have my Rough Guide to Barcelona with me to find some things to see to keep him occupied esp for Monday - between the donor's EC and my (fingers crossed) ET.

Sorry, seem to have gone on for ages!

Randa if you want to sound British - don't say vacation, say holiday, don't say gotten, and flatten your 'a's in bath, path so barth and parth (mind you that's because I'm a Southerner, others might disagree on the pronunciation!) and definitely don't say y'all. Instead of how are y'all doing, say how is everyone. Absolutely is a good one too - as in I am 'absolutely fine' or this is 'absolutely ridiculous'. Easy!!

May pop in later but if not I'll update you Thurs next week (unless it all goes horribly wrong and we come home early)
Lots of love
Kat xx

Randa, I've seen your wedding photos on the photobucket thing and you could out-Hurley Liz Hurley any day - and with far more decorum. Decorum - there's a good English word. Agree with everything Kat suggested in terms of trying to sound like a (posh) Brit (and Liz is quite posh). Other words/phrases you might want to throw in are:

- terribly, as in "he's terribly charming"
- absolutely - used as Kat suggested or just as in reply to something in order to show agreement, e.g. "lovely party, don't you think?" "oh absolutely" (maybe Yanks do this too - trying to think whether I've heard it on the West Wing). Come to think about it, the "don't you think" bit is also quite posh Brit
- Quite - said in a very clipped way to agree with someone who's just told someone else off, e.g. Father to child "That's more than enough of that behaviour from you", mother chips in "quite" (god knows why - doesn't really mean anything)
- "Well, quite" - rather like "absolutely" used to agree with something but probably something more negative, e.g. "she'll worry herself to death over that boy" "well, quite".
- "okay, yah" - stereotyped speech of very posh Brits, eg Princess Di
- "I'm terribly sorry" - we Brits are always apologising (e.g. if someone bumps into you - YOU say, "oh I'm so sorry")

And if you really, really want to sound like a Brit, fall back on the old standby and talk about the weather. Endless topic of conversation, we can bore ourselves senseless over it, especially if there's a good dose of rain to moan about - though the moaning should only be taken to a certain point before someone is obliged to say "but the garden could really do with it, though". Yeah, it is a national pastime.

One can also brush up one's English accent by listening to the great institution which is BBC Radio 4. Some of the best public service broadcasting you are every likely to come across and can be listened to via the internet. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4

Anyway, have a fab halloween party.

Hello Ladies, First of all, I want you to know that I love you all.
It has been 24 hours since I got my negative blood test results and I needed to spend some time with that fact. I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to post. The HPT's kept coming back negative but I still prayed for a miracle. I'm O.K.. ..just glad I have these 2 days off to cry whenever I need to. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for all you support and unselfish good wishes.
Love,
Katie

Oh Katie, I'm so so sorry. I've been thinking about you over the weekend, so thanks for coming and letting us know. It must have helped to have the weekend there so you could just let those feelings out. Do you have plenty of friends around to support you? This is such as tough thing to go through and you're very brave to face it on your own, so I hope you have great girlfriends or relatives around to give you a good hug and a shoulder to cry on.

Be kind to yourself and give yourself plenty of space and time to grieve before you make any big decisions about what you do next.

Be thinking of you

love Caroline

Katie,

So sorry to hear your news - we really have had an awful run of disappointment on this thread this last month, haven't we? If there is an consolation to be had at this time, us ladies that have gone before you these last couple of weeks share your sadness and I hope you can find a way to come to terms with everything that has happened and, in time, plan for the future, whatever that may hold. Take care.

Kat, all the very best of luck to you in Barcelona. Let's hope you can turn the tables and bring a big :D to this thread.

Ladies, I am going to sign off now but I would like to wish Caroline, Randa, Nuala and TJ (and anyone else who is coming up to treatment time soon) all the very best and that some BFP's are seen on this thread soon.

Take care ladies.

Hugs
Sharon x
