Changing doctors?

Post by seepi »

Has anyone here changed to a normal obstetrician?
I dont' really like my IVF doctor much. He is overly busy, impossible to get an appointment with, you always sit for 3 hours in the waiting room (surrounded by pregnant women), and then get a 5 minute appointment where he takes other phone calls.
Also his waiting room makes me depressed, as it brings back bad memories.
I'm wondering if I could change doctors, or if I should stick with him, as he is an ivf expert, and he got me this far (6 weeks). I've got my first scan with him in a week, so I might decide after that.
Has anyone else changed doctors?

Hi Seepi,
Congrats on the BFP!
I'm in the UK, so only know the rules for here, but what happens here is that you have your scan with the IVF doctor at 7 weeks and then he discharges you as you are now just classed as being the same as any other pregnant woman, so after the scan you get the same care as everyone else ie just get looked after by a midwife, and you never see the IVF doctor again.
I dont see why you would have to stay with the IVF doctor, as although you had probs concieving you are still having a normal pregnancy.
Good luck
