twin preg

Post by riya »

friends
i had my second scan today. we found out that i have mono twins.
i am kinda worried. any one in the same situation.
i have heard that dizygotic twins are safer to have than monozygotics.my doc also looked a bit anxious. my first scan showed one sac which was last week only.
any views?

Riya,
Not going to be of any help here, but just wanted to say "CONGRATULATIONS" and i hope that everything goes smoothly for you.
by the way, does Monozygotic twins mean they share the same sac?Is that why its a cause for concern?

hi smita
i have been researching a bit and apparently there r diff types of MZ twins.
one which share placenta but are in diff sacs and the other being 1 plcenta and 1 sac. the last one is at more risk .
i will come to know thru scan on 12th week.
take care.

Riya,

Congratulations! I think mono twins share one sac is normal. Your doctor should give you a close look to check if the twins are separated by membrane. I understand your worries, there are lot of pressure when having twins, but you cannot do anything at this point. Let the doctors do their jobs, they usually pay more attention to twin pregnancies than the single ones.

Wish all the best, you and the twins.
