Mrs Gill,
depends on where you are talking about- normally they want the dye to spill over onto both sides and into the ovaries - that is what proves that the tubes are ok- but if you're talking abt it leaking out or something, then i dont think it does that..
My tubes had hydrosalpinx on both sides so the dye never spilled over into the ovaries..
hope this helps

Hi Gill,
If it doesn't spill, meaning that the tube doesn't get the dye, it's because there's a blockage that's not allowing the dye to enter the tube. And if the tube has an increase size 'cause it's filled up with liquid, that's a Hydrosalpinx, and you'll want to get it out cause it's detrimental for implantation and it also increases the rate of miscarriages.
But if you're referring to the spill by meaning dye comming "out" and stain your underwear, well, it's because usually the dye it's colorless!!
I had a HSG which showed a Hydrosalpinx in my left tube.I had surgery and now I feel better knowing that the tube is out and I have better chances now than then.
Good luck and stay in touch!!!,
Olina.

I think everyones experience is different. Mine hurt but the relief you feel from knowing whats going on in there makes it totally worth it. had bad cramps but inside my head I was having a party as I finally knew what I was facing!

good luck Paula, I'm sure you will be fine. Many people have told me theirs wasn't too painful at all. I'm probably just a wimp!
Anyway, we are all desperate to go through child birth so this is nothing compared to what that will be!
let us know how you go.

It was excruciating! Unbearable! It hurt so much I thought I couldn't take it another second. It's a good thing I went in not thinking it was going to be that bad because I never would have done it. Thank GOD i'll never have to go through that again. It was more intense than when I had my daughter. It just came on like a ton of bricks.
Anyways, I got home and I started to swell, and swell, and my stomach really hurt so I went to bed, then at 8pm i was in so much pain I could hardly walk, so I got to the clinic and he said it was a bad reaction. They fill you up with air and I was reacting to that or the medicine. He gave me some pain killers and I was home in 30 mins and back in bed. I just woke up now at 6:21am. My stomach is still swollen, but by about half. Don't know if its on it's way down or just settled a bit for the night? I'm still in alot of discomfort, but not as much as last night.
I have to go back to the dr's today. Hopefully this won't last long. Thanks for thinking of me girls.

you poor thing Paula, I do sympathise. Mine was very bad too but that only lasted about 45 minutes after so I feel very lucky now! Sounds like you did have a bad reaction! It must be a bit different to what I had as they didn't fill me up with air!
I was glad before I went as well they didn't tell me how much it could hurt as I'd have been more tense and it would have hurt more.
So glad your tubes are okay!!!!!!!!!!! What a relief for you.
I remember the doc saying to me as he inserted the catheter "now this will just feel like period pain"
I said "yes you're right it feels just like that.........(3 seconds later)....OH MY GOD, thats not like period pain, oh my god thats bad!"
