1st Ultrasound ??

I have my first ultrasound on tuesday after the postive PG test. What should I expect? I see a lot of posts about how exciting it is but I am not sure what my DH and I will be able to see so early.

Congratulations Anne!!
Expect your first scan to be emotional- a few tears- you will be able to see your baby's heart fluttering..Ask your doctor to point it out as you may be confused too..

Congratulations

Basically it is very early and difficult for us to determine what it is. There will be a sac which will have a pulsing action going on - this is the heartbeat.

I will say that although it doesn't look like a baby, it is a highly emotional and very exciting picture to see. Enjoy it!!

thanks! i am so excited/nervous. It has been 5 days since we were told my beta numbers were rising (at first they weren't) so I am still on the nervous side. I feel like anything I do (especially at work - I take it easy when I am at home) might mess it up. Thanks for the support, will let you know how it works out.

thanks for all the support - wasn't able to get to a computer yesterday, but the scan was very exciting. they gave us a picture and everything seems to be progressing nicely.

I hadn't realized all the nervousness there would still be at this stage. I am so anxious for the second scan to make sure everything is still alright, but I have a week to wait!

Don't worry about feeling anxiety - we've all been there. We wait so long for this to happen that it's difficult at the beginning to really trust and believe in it all.

I'm thrilled that the scan went well and that you've another one next week.

That is great news I am glad it went well. I never really thought about getting a picture - did other people get a picture

Is there anyone out there from Liverpool - do we get a picture (assuming all is well and touching wood

)

Just wanted to wish you loads and loads of good luck for Thursday - am keeping everything crossed for you and praying that the scan goes well.

As for a picture - all hospitals are different. Some do provide early scan pictures, others don't - I guess it's just a case of luck of the draw.
