Two WW-Embarassing Question

Post by Anastasia »

I have PCOS and have had 9 IUIs in the past two years. I am in the two week wait after my first IVF cycle. This question is a bit graphic-but I could use an answer. I have had three orgasms since my embryo transfer. The first was the day after the transfer the second was about 5 or 6 days later and the third was about 7 days later. My clinic just said nothing vaginally for three days post transfer. None of these were vaginal. I have been reading sites which advise that the contraction of an orgasm impacts implantation. Can anyone give me advice on this? Best case would be some stories where people also orgasmed and did conceive.

Thanks

THEY SAY YOU SHOULD NOT ORGASM BECAUSE IT CAUSES THE UTERUS TO CONTRACT, WHICH INTERFERES WITH IMPLANTATION. DON'T FREAK OUT, ASK YOUR DOCTOR...

Thanks LisaMarie. This is helpful. I wish someone out there had a positive story to make me feel better about it. I could just kick myself. SOOO not worth it. Just didn't know it was a problem. My clinic never mentioned it. ARGH.

Don't fret over it..

Don't worry!
I had sex several times during my first 2ww and have a healthy 19 month old son as a result of that treatment. My clinic said to carry on life as normal, so we did, and it clearly did no harm at all. I'm now 32 weeks pregnant after a natural conception, and there's no doubt in my mind I must have orgasmed several times after this one implanted, because we were trying to maximise our chances. When you think about all the millions of couples trying to conceive naturally and going at it hammer and tongs (!) for days each month with no ill effect, it should help you keep this in perspective. It would be a mean trick of nature if our bodies let sex STOP us conceving and holding onto an embryo. Try to relax, I'm sure you'll have done no harm at all. Best of luck.

Try not to worry,

I agree with Becky. There would be hardly any kids out there if an embryo would not implant if a person had sex after. Relax and keep positive thoughts!!! PMA PMA PMA.

When is your 2ww over?

Good luck.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the support. My 2ww is over Sunday, Nov. 6th. Unfortunately (as per my post from a few minutes ago) I just had some bleeding and am no longer feeling hopefully. Had hoped it was implantation spotting-but I've gotten this before when I did IUIs-nice brown spots and then full flo. BLAH. Doctor's office says to just come in on scheduled appointment on Sunday. Well there's always next time.

Anastasia, sorry to hear things aren't going to plan. Sending you some PMA. Hope things go OK at docs on Sat.
