JKOS,
NO ONE could be a bigger baby than me when it comes to shots.

I found the progesterine shots easier than the others.

It worked best for us when I would lay down on the bed - my husband wouldn't call me upstairs until everything was ready. I never looked at the needle.
Right before he was about to do the shot he would say
"Beathe in" and I would take a big breath.
Then he would say "Breathe out" and while I was exhaling, he would do the shot. It's a trick we learned from our friend who is a accupunturist.

Right after the shot, he would put the heating pad on the spot.
That helped alot!

Good luck with everything!

New to site and IVF/ICSI

Post by Lyn B »

Hi all. This is my first post and I am so thankful I found this site.
I live in IL, west of Chicago and have been trying to concive for over a year. I did 12 months on Clomid, nothing. I had a IUI in September, -ve and just had my first ICSI, 2ww.......testing on Nov 7th.
I am very fortunate to have concieved two children(7 and 5), on Clomid. I have come to a brick wall but am hoping for the best!!!
I loved reading all your posts, they made me feel better.
I'm not sure how I'm suppose to be feeling during this 2ww. I am bloated and my chest is very tender. I have an occasional pain but that is it. Is there something I should be looking for? [/code]

Welcome Steph; ElleR; and LynnB!

Steph - there's a thread in this forum about Waiting for the First Scan and Lynn - there's a thread for folks on the 2ww. Both of those threads were super helpful to me in making it through the waiting.

I'm at 11 weeks tomorrow and we finally started telling some people. It feels so strange to "let the cat out of the bag". Our next hurtle is having the screening tests done (we want those before we decide to do an amino), so fingers crossed until Nov 10th for that test.

Good luck everyone!!

Thank you so much for your advice on the progesterone shot -- I will definitely try it when the time comes! One question though, would you kneel on the bed or just lay flat?

Right now, I am on my 7th day of lupron and am waiting for AF to arrive. The Dr. says it should come one day this week - i am so anxious for it to arrive so I can start stimming.

Hope all is well with all of you at the various stages of your cycles.

Jkos,

When I took my shots,(Progesterone) I stood up and leaned a little forward on the table or counter so that DH could give the shot.
For the stimming shots I just stood there and he gave me the shot or sometimes I did it myself. It sounds worse that it is. :P

I didn't do the breathing thing but it sounds like a great idea.

Good luck to you!!

JKOS,
I was flat on my stomach on the bed. The nurse suggested this, as it took all weight off the muscles.

I don't know why it helped - but the breathing trick really worked for us.

Good luck everyone!

Blake,

Put your feet high and take easy. With 4 you are likely to be pregnant with multiple. Your doctor's decision or yours was based on your own condition. Hope this time you will get what you want.

Hiya USA ladies...sorry to butt in but I have a quick question. Have any of you used a SIRM clinic? I am just exploring some options at the moment and SIRM seems to be a really caring clinic. They also have a shared risk program which sounds interesting. I am also curious about costs for IVF/ICSI over there...I know it probably varies considerably between clinics but can anyone give me a vague idea about what I would be looking at.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Heather
