How many embies should be put back?

Post by blake »

Hi I'm new to this site and I am nervous that I may have put back too many. We did 4 embies. Is this the norm?
Hi I am 37 yrs and this is my first IVF cycle. I just had my transfer exactly 7 days ago. I can hardly wait unitl Nov 7, which is my preg test. Looking for buddies to help my anxiety.

Hi there and welcome.

Here in England we have very strict guidelines - under 40 maximum 2 embryos and over 40 3 embryos.

This is actually under review at the moment to allow only 1 embryo to be put back if you are under 40

You will find that the amount put back varies from area to area.

Good luck.

In Australia we are only allowed two also. But I would have put back 3 given the choice - three of ours had thawed out. Also I feel like it gives you a higher chance of succeeding. My doctor also said that in an emergency case of say quins, they can actually stop some of the embryos from growing at as very early stage, without harming the remaining ones.
It also depends on the state of the eggs. If they are not as developed as they could be, I would like to put back more.
Good luck!

in italy the max is 3 embryos regardless of age and i'm hoping to transfer precisely that. i think, if you have the choice, the number you transfer should depend on your situation and age. i'm sure your doctor would have taken this into consideration and advised you against 4 if he thought it wasn't a good idea.

hope it all works out for you.
