Hi. I know I should just relax and enjoy my pregnancy, but I have a question. My RE is recommending I stop the progesterone. I will be 7 weeks when I actually stop. I think that is early. What do you ladies think? Did everyone take progesterone during their first trimester?
Mia
I've heard different stories. I'm due to stop my progesterone next week, when I'll be 9 1/2 weeks and I was wondering myself if that was a bit early. At my appt last week, the consultant said that my body has already taken over but just to keep going for another fortnight. I think I'd be nervous no matter when I stop but I have to put my faith in the expert, he's got me this far!! Good Luck!!
Believe me every hospital is different, but at the end of the day we have to believe and trust in what they say - afterall they should know!!
Some ladies stopped their progesterone the minute they tested positive, others stayed on it for a lot longer. There doesn't seem to be a normal length of time.
I had to stay on progesterone til twlve weeks then slowly wean myself off it. I was told not to just suddenly stop taking it. I never had any tests tho to see if I needed it, and with my 1st ICSI I had a Hcg injection the day after ET and nothing after that no pessaries or anything. So I guess every doctor and treatment is different!

Hi, I was told to stop at 10 weeks but kept goiing till 11 weeks and then drove myself mad with whether I'd been on it too long! Other people came off it at pregnancy test, 6 week scan, 8 week scan so I guess it's all different depending on clinic. I wouldn't worry - your clinic will be telling you what's right for you and it's only a precaution anyway because I think the body basically produces it's own anyway and we certainly don't need it once the placenta takes over.
Try not to worry and enjoy your pregnany,

Third ICSI July 2005 BFP and praying it continues!! 6, 8, 12, 13(Nuchal) 20, 25 and 28 week scans successful! Emily Ann Cane born 8.4.06 - more beautiful than we could have imagined
Progesterone injection was painful to me. I stopped early. My clinic suggested the shot for 3 months, and my regular OB suggested to stop in 2 months. But I stopped in less than 7 weeks because I couldn't handle the pain. I'm glad that I stopped early after I found out I was having a boy. Progesterone is no good for boys if you take it for too long because it provides female hormone.
How are you? I haven't post for a while, I know I missed lot of news. Do you know your babies sex yet? Let me know.
My boy has already began his daily exercises two weeks ago I think. Especially at night, I feel he kicks a lot. That's why I couldn' sleep better and sometimes feel like having a heartburn when he moves. I don't know if this is normal. Do you have these feelings?
My doctor checks baby's heartbeat every two weeks. Yesterday it was 150, but 2 weeks ago it was 128. Doctor said it's in the normal range, but I still think the change is too much. Are you the same in 22 weeks?
Yes - I get that heartburn and my it's not the nicest of things is it?
We are not going to find out the sex so it will be a lovely surprise next year. I was really keen on knowing but DH said it would be wonderful if we could wait!!!
I've been feeling the kicks properly for just over a week and I love it - it's such a reassuring thing isn't it.
We had an appointment with my GP on Monday and he did a heartbeat check and the little engine was pumping away in the 160s. He did say that any over 120 bpm is what they look for.
Hope you are ok and taking care - it really is so nice to see you back here.
I'm glad that all these things turn out to be normal. It's also nice for not finding out baby's sex before birth. I just wonder how you and your family and friends can hold on shopping until then. Hope you have fun time guessing. Take care.
I've been thinking of playing the Old Wives Tales game and trying to match me to them, but guess that at the end of the day it will be whatever it is - girl or boy I will be so happy.
