Has anyone had a Polyp?

Post by sammylou »

Hi,

My clinic think I may have a uterine polyp (piece of skin / growth in the womb).

Has anyone else had the same?

Many Thanks

Hi SammyLou

I have a polyp in my uterus was spotted at down reg scan. They said it was nothing to worry about and I did go on to concieve through IVF. They also stressed it was not cause of m/c and it really is not something to be concerned about.

Hi Yorkie

Thanks for your message - sorry to hear about the mc, I really hope that time flies for you until March 06.

I have to go back for a scan next week so that they can confirm that they are sure that its a polyp - they said if it was that it would definately have to be removed before I could cycle again - did you have to have yours removed?

Hi Sammylou

I had a uterine polyp which was picked up during my scan when I was undergoing IUI - they let me finish the cycle which unfortunately was a BFN. The hospital would not let me have anymore treatment until the polyp had been removed.

Apparently a uterine polyp can be the cause of not conceiving and once removed will increase your chances of natura conception if you have no other issues.

Anyway I had the polyp removed and a laparoscopy and numerous other procedures and it was noted then that I had scarring on one of my fallopian tubes due to the problem with my tubes it was recommended IVF would be my best option.

Good luck

Hi Karron,

Thanks for your message - it sounds similar to what my consultant has advised - I hope you get your BFP at the end of all of those tests etc!

There are at least 2 of us on this site at the moment waiting for further news about our Polyps, but neither of us is sure how long after having them removed you can start another cycle of IVF......how long did you have to wait?

Many Thanks

Hi Sammylou

They didn't actually give me a time limit. I had my polyp removed at the end of January this year and had my first cycle of IVF in June which unfortunately was a BFN. To be honest I think you have to wait for AF to arrive and then you can get going - I honestly don't think there is a time limit. The reason I didn't start until June was because I telephoned the hospital in February/March and I had to wait for an appointment with the Doctor and then attend the Patient Information Evening before I could get going.

Good luck and if there is anything else you would like to know PM me.

Take care.

you've got me worried now :? , as I was told polyp was not a problem and no one has ever mentioned removing it. They did say it was only very small and that it was not a problem.

I don't want to be borrowing trouble as I have already had enough hassle due to being forced to change clinics by my PCT. (1st clinic excellent, new clinic can't seem to read my notes!). Now that I'm NHS and not private the new clinic seem to be doing all they can to put us off and delay things. Have a scan at new clinic in one month so I guess I'll have to see what turns up then.
