Thank God, I've finally got back on!!!!!!

Well, went and had ec today. All went fine. When DH went to hospital (it was transport icsi) with the follies and did his thing, his sperm count had gone from 1 million to 19 million(!!!!) . Anyway, got 5 eggs only - was fairly pleased but then the nurse told DH that there wouldn't be enough to get any frosties, so feel disappointed now. Worried that they won't be able to make any embies from what they've got. They didn't indicate whether they were good eggs either - is that normal?!?!?!?!

Lol

Rachel
x
Hi Rachel.
I have ec tomorrow so we are on similar timetables - when is your et?
I don't think they can tell quality or whether they can freeze any til they have been getting it on in the lab for a day or two. The decision to freeze is certainly not made until the day of your transfer.

Wishing you really good luck and keep in touch

Hi Rachel

Welcome back - missed you!! How exciting EC day. I wouldn't worry about how many eggs (90% of eggs fertilise), and you only need ONE!!! I didn't get any frosties either and I got 14 eggs - so I wouldn't worry about that. They don't grade the quality of the eggs, they grade the embies, so you'll find out tomorrow when you go for ET! If all your embies turn out to be grade 1 then you'll have some to freeze - dont' worry about it. Stay calm. Are they phoning you today to tell you how many fertislised? Fingers crossed.

Good luck for tomorrow.

love nikola.xxx
Hi Sam and Nikola

Thanks for replying! Well, hospital rang and said from the 5 eggs, we have 4 embies, all they can tell at the moment is that they are all the same size and shape etc and like you said, we will find out on Monday the grading and whether we have any frosties. Bit tender today but feel fine generally. I know we have a long way to go still but just the fact that we have got this far has given us such a boost. Just hope our little embies are ok at Kings College and warm enough!!

Nikola, so so so sorry to hear you weren't lucky this time, but at least with wwaiting until August, its not too far that you can look forward to it but also you can have a few months break to get some normality back.

Sam, hope it went ok today. I found everyone at the hospital so lovely and kind. Just take it easy, and well done for get to this point.

LOL

Rachel
x
Rachel,

Good news about the eggs and embries, at least the procedure is over. Hang in there and take it easy. My e/c is next Tuesday and e/t on Thursday, do you mind me asking how long the procedure took? I know some people are put under general anesthetic but I don't think I am - I think they said they'd just administer pain relief - lovely.

Anyway, good luck with everything.

Keep in touch

Bye for now

Heather b.
Hi Heather

I had EC on Tuesday and it wasn't to bad to be honest. I wasn't given a GA I was just given drugs to sedate me (Pethadine). My appointment was at 09:00 and we was a little late going in but I think we got out about 12:00 approx.

They gave me the drugs and DH had to do his sperm sample. Then you just lie down for a while.

Admittenly when I had the EC the afternoon I was quite sick and I did have some pains in my tummy, but the sickness has gone but I do still get pains but they say this is normal.

I have also had ET I had that on Thursday and my appointment for that was 13:30 and I was out for 14:10 with 2 embies put back in. I didn't find that bad at all, just like a smear really.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask Heather.

Good Luck.

Love

Shell.
xx
Hi Rachel

Your situation sounds so similar to ours. We had our treatment at King's College and only had 6 eggs collected (I didn't realise it was a low number either). Only 3 of these fertilised but we had 2 successfully put back in - we now have twins as a result. I hope your ET and everything else follows the same pattern as ours - all the best.

Jules

Hi Jules

Its nice to know this treatment works for some people.

I have just been a little concerned because since I have had ET I have had so many pains in my stomach. Last night (Sunday) I was convinced I was coming on AF because I had strong period pains, did you have any affects which you would like to share with me, cus I really thought it was all over yesterday.

Love

Shell.
xx
Hi Shell,

Thanks for the response. It definitely is good to get some feed back. Our e/c has been put back for 2 days. They said they wanted to give us the best possible chance and let the smaller ones grow. I don't feel too bad, just a bit pissed off - you kind of want it over and done with. But I'm sure they know what they're doing. (Shell, I'm sure the pains you have don't mean AF is coming - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you).

Hi Jules, Rachel, Sam & Co, hope everything is going well.

Bye for now,

Heather b.
Shell,

Try not to worry. From what I can gather, lots of people have AF pains during the 2WW and still get pregnant. I was a bit strange (still am!) 'cos I only got AF type pains after I found out I was pregnant, but they lasted for weeks. Keep positive and all the best.

Jules

Heather,

EC took half an hour - general anaesthetic. ET today took 5 mins. Feeling a bit of pain now, like period pain. They put 2 embies back, both grade 2, 6 cell.

Jules, I love reading your posts, they're always so positive and fab to hear of your two bundles of joy! Hope we can follow your example!

Shell, Im having pains too, sounds quite common and hopefully means bugger all! Am going to be thinking of you - loads of luck!

Rach
x
HI Rach

I haven't been so bad with my pains today but just kind of weird. My tummy feels very weird sitting here at the minute probably cus of how bloated it is.

Rach when do you do your hpt? will you carry it out till the end?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Love
Shell
xx
Hi everyone how are you all?

I have et tomorrow - then the dreaded 2ww commences! I am still bleeding a wee bit from ec but it is slowing so I hope ok. I also hope our embies have been safe and sound in the lab and decided to multiply how they should. It is a three day transfer - does this make any difference do you think?

Are you bloated Shell - that is a good sign apparently
Hi Rach glad your embies have multiplied and you are back resting
Heather - how frustrating - you get yourself geared up and then have to deflate only to get going again - whatever happens after the 2ww i think we will have to have a year's kip!Congratualtions to Jules R - wow you really give us hope - i am so pleased you have posted and made us all feel better

Off to watch jungle capers...

Hi Sam

Bloated isn't the word, I can't fit into my trousers properly they are so uncomfortable. My boobs feel even worse then what they do before I come on my AF. I said to DH yesterday I wished I could take my boobs off and leave them somewhere and it wouldn't feel so bad LOL.

Love

Shell.
xx
