Post by blake »

Hi Ladies,
I was just wondering as I wait for my BF test on Monday Nov 7th. Is it possible that I could have a BFP, If this is my 1st and only IVF. I guess I'm just trying to prepare my self.
Hi I am 37 yrs and this is my first IVF cycle. I just had my transfer exactly 7 days ago. I can hardly wait unitl Nov 7, which is my preg test. Looking for buddies to help my anxiety.

Hi Blake,

I had my first ever IVF treatment in sept/oct 05 and am now 6 weks pregnant!! It does happen, however, I was not expecting it is I had assumed the first IVF is used for diagnostic purposes and we might get it right after that.

There is no hard and fast rule. If you look at the boards lots of people are lucky like me and get pregnant 1st time and lots of people get pregnant at other times.

Anyway, good luck, no matter what,

Hi Blake!

Thanks for starting this thread. DP and I also decided that we would only have one go at it and it does seem that stories of first time sucesses are few and far between. It's good to hear that it happens.

On the wall of our fertility clinic there are magazine stories like "It took 9 years and £28,000 to get our baby!" and I think I cannot get that far into it. I already feel much more involved and committed than I did at the beginning of the process. I know I need to pull back but it's so hard.

One of the things I never thought of before I started was the way that the process leads you to feel that you are having a baby. I'm up weeing all night due to my increased water intake, my tummy feels like a bloated staone, and I keep going to the clinic for scans and watching all these different things develop in my womb. It's hard not to feel like you're already pregnant and even harder to imaging it coming to nothing.

I'll be thinking of you and hoping we both make it, and from the replies above we know we can believe that once might just be enough!

Hi Blake

It's amazing how many people get pregnant during the 1st cycle of IVF. I think that it depends a lot on the quality and condition of the embie as well as the factors behind the reason that you are doing the IVF in the first place.

This is my 2nd cycle and during my last cycle - before I knew about this awesome website - I made a few friends in the doctor's office that were new to this as well. 3 out of 4 of us got a +ive - and only 1 set of twins.

So good luck! I hope it happens for you! Leigh is also testing on Monday. There is a thread for November test dates - you should check it out.

Buckets of baby dust to you!

Hi
Good luck with your testing tomorrow. I have had 2 ICSI treatments and got pg both times. I actually feel strange posting on this board as I have never experienced the pain and heartache that goes with a BFN. Although I think I am defineately a rare case!
Again good luck

Blake and Leigh--

Had my first IVF cyle test today and it was BFP-so it is possible. I still need to confirm again with doctor this week, but I think it does happen.

Best to you both.
