hi Christine,
it's lovely to read a post from someone that little bit ahead! i guess i am just entering the 3rd trimester as i will be 30 weeks on tuesday and then is in a way in sight! fascinating to read about what's to come. you sound calm and assured which is lovely, but i guess there are some feelings of nerves and excitement as well. i found it really touching to be reminded of that mazing moment we will get when we meet our babies for the first time.

i hope the swelling and discomfort is bearable and i look forward to hearing when your little one engages! get lots of rest while you can.

to everyone else, i hope you are feeling great and have enjoyed lovely weekends with partners and for those of you going on/ about to go on holiday, have a wonderful time.

Hi all

I'm a bit worried that I have been taking wrong supplements & just wanted to check what you all thought.
I have been taking normal pregnancy vitamins but also selenium (50mcg per day) because before I was pregnanct I read that it was good for the baby's brain and various other things & Zita West seems to rate it but now I have been reading that large doses can be harmful. I'm not going to take it any more but does anyone else have an info on this? Love Vicky

Hi all,
Looks like the boards are quiet these days..I hope thats because everyone is doing well.
I've been a little low as dh left yesterday morning.Next visit should be in Jan beginning I guess.I think my lil one is going to be a cranky sort with all the crying i've been doing!Keep trying to compose myself.

Vicky,
If you've been taking selenium in the form of a multi-vitamin and mineral, the dosage prescribed cant be high- I've heard too, that its good for the brain, skin and hair.Sorry to be of no help on this- personally, my vitamin supplement doesnt have it.Maybe you should check with your GP?

Christine,
its great to hear from you. You're almost there.Do you have any clue as to when the feet start to swell? as in is every pregnant woman bound to have them, or it just depends?
Minnow,
You must be looking forward to the 3rd tri.Hope things are settling down your end.

Esther,
Thanks for your words.

The one good thing this past week was that my scan revealed that my amniotic fluid levels are back to normal. So thats a big relief.

Hi to Kim, Cheryl, Carla and Susie.

Gavin, hope you and gen have a great time on holiday.

LP and Jacs, hope you're busy sunning yourselves!!

Have a nice day all!

Hi everyone

I have had the most horrible few days and have been in hospital. On Monday I stood up and felt a small gush of water, about half an hour later it happened again and the I started to feel very low abdominal pressure + vaginal pressure.
DH rushed me straight to hospital where they examined me and told me they were concerned that my cervix was starting to dilate. We were absolutely devastated.
They organised an urgent ultrasound scan which was fine showing that my cervix was still long and closed and that is plenty of water around the baby.
I was discharged on tuesday with a follow up scan in two weeks, the consultant has no idea if it was my waters or not.
It has really freaked me out, I am now even paranoid about having a wee!!, just in case I am leaking fluid again.

The positive thing is that we are having a little boy!, he is growing well and everything looks normal for now. I thought the 2nd tri is supposed to be the fun bit.

Sorry this post is so long. I hope everyone else is doing ok.
Smita - keep smiling, it must be so hard to have DH so far away. You are very brave.

Take care

I'll send up a prayer for you for everything to be ok..

Oh Olivia bless you, what a terrifying experience. Try not to panic too much - could it have been a release of discharge or something? Certainly sounds very positive that cervix is still long and closed. If I were you I would rest completely for the next couple of weeks just to be on safe side, even if it means missing work. Have you asked about a little stitch in the cervix just incase? I know sometimes they will do that if they have any concerns about early labour. I'm sure you will be fine although I'm sure it must be horrible waiting for news. How lovely to know you'tre having a lovely little boy - I tried to find out sex at my 20 week scan but they couldn't tell cos it's legs were clenched together and curled up so she couldn't see from any angle! Still maybe I'll find out at 3d scan at 25 weeks? Thinking about you and sending lots of positive vibes for your little soldier, Much love, Cherylxxx

Hi everyone

Olivia - I hope you and DH are ok. What a shock. Good news that everything looks ok and congratulations on having a little boy! Take it easy and look after yourselves. Have they advised anything in particular such as bed rest for you?

Smita - Im sorry you are feeling low about DH leaving. :( Its wonderful that he can get back to visit, but I guess makes it harder when he leaves.
Im so glad your little one is doing well. Take care!

Cheryl - You're having a 3D scan, wow! I bet that will be amazing! Hope you can find out the sex if you really want to know!

Gen and Gavin - Enjoy your holiday. Me and DH went to Italy on our honeymoon. We loved it. Im so envious, you lucky things!!

Take care everyone. My last day of covering fulltime at work today, thank goodness! Looking forward to the weekend.

Love Kim

Hie Everyone

What a day I had yesterday.

I felt a sudden rush of pain across the abdomen that lasted for less than 3secs so I dismissesd it as one of those things. 20mins later I decided to go for a wee and discovered that I was bleeding, red fresh blood. Straightaway I asked a colleague to rush me to the hospital, the hospital was very slow to see me and book me in, more than an hour later the midwife checked me and the baby and everything was fine, but the bleeding continued. Then the doctor came after more than 2hours and confirmed that I was bleeding from the mouth of the cervics. IT IS CALLED CERVICAL CORROSION. They said it is not connected with the pregnancy at all as it is outside the womb. I was discharged with nothing but reassurance that the bleeding will stop within 2 days. Sure enough it stopped last night and I havent seen any today. The greatest reassurance though is that the baby is very active and the heartbeat is normal. I visited my midwife again today and had another examination and listened to the heartbeat again which is all very normal. I freaked out yesterday I thought the worst had happened especially when my baby didnt move all the way to the hospital. I was advised to stay away from nookie for a couple of weeks.Iam sorry the mail is like an essay. The hospital staff were very slow to see me which didnt amuse me as I had to pull the buzzer for emergency and pretend I had developed a severe headache as well after the midwife hadnt turned up for more than an hour. At times I think hospital staff can be very insensitive. I was booked in a room next to a mum who was giving birth and the crying of her baby when it was born caused me to have aches and twinges throughout my body given the situation i was in.

So how is everyone doing

Olivia how are you today hope everything is settled now. 2wks is a long time but I would advice you to rush to the hospital as soon as you have doubts on anything. I was advised to rush back if I notice anything abnormal.

Smita - Iam happy for you and your Dh now you can enjoy your prego time without worrying about the water levels. Lets hope your Dh will give you another mighty surprise by turning up before January. Mine was 35miles away when I called to say that I was bleeding but he was at the hospital within 15mins, I wonder how he made it in such a short time.

Vicky- how are you feeling after your suppliments worry hope you found comforting information somewhere I am sorry I couldnt be of any help on that one.

Wadley- Nice to know that Gen is doing fine please pass my regards and enjoy your time in Italy.

CC- Iam so envious of you, I heard that a 3d scan is amazing and hope you will enjoy seeing your baby. Hopefully you will be able to see the sex. Myself I have opted for a surprise.

K- I envy you, Enjoy your sleeping and resting days before the baby comes, mind you only have a few weeks left.

Christine- how are you doing, you are almost there.

Hi Esther - sorry its been quiet last couple of days and you haven't had replies yet re. your experience. That sounds so scary but thank goodness everything's fine. Your poor hubby must have practically flown to make it in the time he did and then to discover no nookie for a while - bless him! Still it'll all be worth it in the end. I think you were right to invent more symptoms, I can't believe they left you waiting for more than an hour - surely that would constitute an emergency? I mean at the time they didn't know it was something harmless, unbelievable! I'm really pleased that it was all a happy outcome and hope that you are properly taking it easy. I must admit to feeling slightly more nervous now than I did on first tri cos its so near but so far, getting to a point where the baby would be considered viable. Hopefully I'll relax a bit after say 26 weeks because you think that if something happens at least there's a really good chance of surving normally.
I am really excited about 3d scan but I just thought it was something that most people did but it sounds (on here) like it's not that common. Are you having one? I was forced (well opted) to have my 20 week scan privately because my hospital only does one scan at 12 weeks (miserable people) so I just booked a 3d while I was there and I get a discount too because of other scan. It's only about £100 which I thought was quite reasonable really as it does include a DVD copy of scan and a set of pictures and it lasts (the appointment) between 45 mins - 1 hour so you get a really good look. I hope I don't get too freaked out by it - it might seem really weird seeing it look like a proper baby whilst still inside!

Anyway, I'm goiing to go and find something to eat - I'm a bit off food at moment so have to keep finding things to interest me. Hope this stage doesn't last long - I love my food!
Love to all - I'll do general personals tomorrow
Particular thoughts and hugs to Olivia - hope all is still great for your little one and I hope you are resting, resting, resting!

Quiick note to all - I just read back my post and realised that I'd suggested only 26 weeks+ are viable babies which sounds awful if anyone out there does have a scary episode earlier than that - I know babies can survive much earlier than that and I hope I haven't scared anyone, I think its just one of those little milestones that I've given myself in terms of when I'll let myself relax a bit more and start shopping!
Apologies if I've caused any distress, it wasn't intentional

Gosh Esther,
You seem to have a had a rough time.. I will keep you in my prayers..I'm sorry i wasnt on the boards yday- a bit low, but am fine now.Thank you for thinking abt me in your tough time..

I'm glad your bleeding has stopped now and that little one is kicking away.
I hope this is the only scare you'll get during your whole pregnancy..not too long to go now.. we're all abt 2/3rds the way down..Are you going to continue working? Your dh sounds wonderful, and I'm sure no nookie doesnt bother him a lot for a while- as for me- I've kind of forgotten what nookie is

Abt hospitals, I've come to the conclusion that for most of them, we're just another pregnancy, so they just treat us normally, while for us, each baby is soo precious.. oh well, someone shd tell them our feelings..

Olivia,
Hope you are doing ok now.
When is your scan scheduled?

Kim,
Now you can get some more time off i guess, but are you going to doing part time still? How are those antenatal classes? Does dh go with you?

Cheryl,
Hope you have a wonderful 3d scan..I will ask my doctor if its done at our hospital, but i kind of doubt it..As for food, I've gone off my food too- which is weird- oh , I eat, buts thats cause its meal time, and not cause i've any particular interest..

Have a lovely weekend everyone!!

Thanks for all the good wishes girls.
Things seem to be fine at the moment, my little man is active and I have had no more water loss or pain. My next scan is on Nov 23rd and will hopefully tell us that my cervix has remained closed.
I am enjoying the resting and won't be going back to work for at least another two weeks and then it will be strictly light duties.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in movement after they have eaten. This one goes crazy after every meal!!

Esther - seems like you have had a bit of a rough time too. So glad it was nothing serious. hope it is plain sailing now for the rest of your pregnancy.

Cheryl - are you having your 3d scan at MUMS? Our next scan is there, hospital advised us to keep that appointment as the scanner is apparently much better than the one at Walsgrave.

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend. Take care all.

Hie

Thanks ladies, its true I had a freky time but like CC said thanks to God it had a good outcome.

CC- How are you doing. No iam not having a 3d scan but I had a 20wk one which was amazing, had a lovely time watching my baby moving about sucking its thumb. I thought it was one of the regulations that every pregnant woman should have a scan at 12wks and another one at 20wks. Have a lovely time watching your baby. You will love it.

About viability. The midwife who attended me said its 50/50 for babies born at 24wks, so there is a chance if it decides to come early.

Smita- How are feeling today. My baby has been very active since the freaky thursday. Had my sisters and their families and a lot of visitors to see me today which helped divert my mind to new things. There is no sign of bleeding at the moment.

Olivia- Lovely to learn that you and your baby are doing ok. Yes mine loves food especially a warm meal. I bet Iam carrying a girl it goes crazy as well after i eat biscuits.

Everyone else, hope you are all doing ok.

had to scrible this one in a rush.
