Did anyone get PG with FET?

Post by caz1 »

HI - we have a beautiful daughter through ICSI (VERY severe male factor)
We have 4 embies in the freezer and was looking for any inspirational stories?! We are so lucky to havea child at all that I dont want to see greedy but I'd be lying if I said I wasnt thinking a bit about another one sometime.
I understand that pregbnancy rates through FET arent great -anyone knwo more than me?!

All the best

hello caz

i have a few friends who had fet and now have either 1 or 2 babies.

i wouldnt worry about the stories..just try and go with the flow.

i think personally its the thaw thats the bit to worry about...other wise i cant see it being any differant than a normal cycle.

good luck xx

Caz,
My gorgeous Annie-Boo is a FET baby.We got a positive result on both FET's, the first unfortunately ended in miscarriage (nothing to do with the FET), but the second resulted in our fabulous daughter.
My doctor felt that once the embies survive the thaw, the success rates are fairly insignificantly different to a fresh cycle.
Why shouldn't you want another one anyway..don't ever feel that you have to justify this!!!

Hi Caz,
In my hospital in the Netherlands they came out with some research last year which suggests that their FET rates are better than the IVF rates. Specifically the professor who is head of the clinic wrote an article that FET babies seem to have better birth weight than IVF babies. I cried and cried at this news(how silly) then as I was pregnant with non FET embryos - it just goes to show how sensitive one is at such times. But I am sure that their latest research suggests FET rates of success are as good as normal IVF rates - so you have good reasons to be positive about it!
love,

Sorry to join in so late to this thread. I haven't been on this website for ages now. I have a son who's 18 months old and we are due to have FET on Monday!! I'm so nervous. We have 2 blastocysts, which I gather have a better chance of working than 2/3 day old embryos. I've been advised to take steroids again due to active NK cells and I'm off for some acupunctue tomorrow (this is what I did on my 4th IVF go and got Daniel at the end).
I'm really pleased that other people also feel the need to have another child. I know that we are truly blessed by having 1 already but you really can't do anything about the desire to have more.
So, I will let you know how I get on. I'm worried about the thaw as we tried FET after our first attempt and non of the 3 embryos survived the thaw - however, they were frozen on day 2 so may not have been viable anyway.
At least having blastocyst transfer you don't have to wait the dreaded 2 weeks before doing the pregnancy test!

Got pg with Oliver after FET - he died at 20 weeks but then again lucky and now have one year old twins with FET - the rates for some are better than non frozen cycles as some pepole are better without all the drugs
Go for it and good luck

Hi Caz1...
Well, i am currently 6 weeks pregnant from an FET. We transferred 3 embryos, which all survived the thaw! I go in for my first scan on next Tuesday.

My ds is an FET baby :) He was a "dud" embryo, in that the two embryos that I had leftover from my (failed) fresh cycle were slow in dividing and we didn't hold out much hope for them so we transferred them both. they were frozen on day2. FET rates are lower but I think that I was better off due to having no drugs.

Good luck :)

I had my twin boys from FET after an early MC IVF cycle. Apparently for some of us it is easier to get PG from FET. In my case I think it is because the hormones were more in balance. I had a natural cycle with virtually no drugs (just some cortizone and antibiotics).

Good luck!

My daughter had a FET 6 days ago and we are so praying she will be pregnant. All the comments were encouraging to see how many babies are born through this. She had IVF which resulted in a tubal and then the second IVF resulted in a twin pregnancy in which one twin died. we have a beautiful grand daughter from that pregnancy. It's sooo hard to watch my daughter struggle just to have her children. What an emotional drain for what should be a natural occurrance.
