Kat, the one thing I have learnt from hanging around the board (for way too long) is that there doesn't appear to be any symptoms that predict the outcome of IVF. Some women get cramps, some don't...some have sore boobs, others don't...some women experience AF and still manage a +ve. The drugs don't help either because they produce symptoms that could be associated with pregnancy while at the same time they make you feel like AF is just around the corner. I think the 2ww was invented as some kind of cruel torture for infertiles around the globe.

I am keeping everything crossed for you and sincerely hope that you get the result that you so deserve. Hang in there, not long to go.

Best wishes
Heather

hi all
kat- poor poor you, this is indeed the MOST horrible time of the entire treatment, cos everything elce is steps, this time is our actual last, its not even a hurdle, its the end, whichever way things goes for us,
i think you are very good, cos i would have tested by now.
i had all symptoms of af and really felt like i was going to come on, i dont know if you remember me telling you lot that i even had a period poo, and nikola was having fits as she didnt know what that was, and it started quite a few responces to it ...... but i was pregnant....
so my friend, hang in there, breathe deeply, you are going to be fine.
anna-- jiggy jiggy works for me everytime, what have you got to lose, might even relax you and keep dh happy.
lara-- isnt that screening very expensive, im sure i read that it adds about another £2000 to the price.
take care all

Good luck tomorrow, Kat! Wishing you have the news we all want to hear - BFP!!!! :D :D :D (p.s. I wouldn't blame you if you did a hpt today. Your point made sense to me.)

Anna, sex always brings my af on a day early. Good luck!

Debra, it was good to see you post the other day. And thanks for correcting my faux pas with the "natural bidding" thing. That's not the first time I've fumbled one of our precious IVF acronyms. I like "baby dancing" much better.

Guess I'll know in a day or two if we lucked out and got pregnant with this first of the only 2 tries we'll get naturally. I didn't end up using an ovulation kit. My cycles have always been so regular that I thought I might try without, at least the first time. Probably stupid.

Just checked the calendar and I should have started af on Sunday??? BUT, I'm not getting my hopes up as I believe the IVF cycles have a ripple effect and can throw your period off a little until you are straightened back around. ALSO, any month now I could start perimenopaus symptoms and those include irregular cycles. I don't feel anything weird. If I don't start by Thursday or Friday.....??????

Love you girls! Hope you have a great week!

Well ladies...
I did a hpt last night and again this morning (well there were 2 in the pack, seemed silly not too) and both were

POSITIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! Am in shock! Never got this far before!

We are cautiously optimistic, can't get too excited yet, the first one was a faint line but then it was only 1 hours worth of urine in the evening so no surprise, this morning's one was stronger and clearer.

Blood test this morning and the results of that tomorrow to see just how much HCG is swimming around my insides.

Still got some af cramps but can now tell myself they are not af coming

And yes, Jackie, I remember the period poo conversations!

Speak later, couldn't sleep so got up before my alarm even though I didn't need to get up till later than normal because of going for the blood test

Fantastic news kat!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the results follow through but this has got to be good!

Thank you for the hope you bring to all of us with your good news.

Randa, I think you're the closest in age to me - I'm 44 in 3 months (not that I'm counting or anything...)
I hope you're late for a very exciting good reason. Fingers crossed and all that.
I was extremely late after my D&C but it turned out to just be everything tossed about by the miscarriage etc., but I was very excited for a while. However, the time before that I was late I was in fact pg. Like you I'm usually very regular, so, as I say, fingers crossed.
I still don't know what treatment to choose, another round of straight IVF or GIFT. I don't feel as if I could go through another miscarriage after two this year, so maybe I'll do the IVF plus screening.
Someone asked if it was expensive - yes, very, yes it's about 2k more than straight IVF.
Anyway, forget all that, Kat's got good news so let's focus on that for now!
All thebest to all,
Lara

Thanks to everyone for your lovely messages, I hope I won't disappoint further down the line.
I emailed Barcelona to tell them I did a hpt and the doctor phoned me which I thought was a really nice thing to do, she could have just emailed.
Can't quite believe it, doesn't seem real, let's hope the blood tests shows good levels, then of course it's the scan. Oh dear, I thought the 2ww was bad!
What can they see at the scan? It will be in a couple of weeks time so just a little blob (or two)?
DH is OK, I have told him all the things that can go wrong (ever the pessimist) so he is not letting himelf get too excited. He did a big M&S shop today which was lovely, so I can eat some nice food and feed my little one(s) well.
Hope everyone else is doing OK
Lots of love

Hiya,
You can only 'see' a small shape until you get to 6/7 weeks when you sometimes get a heartbeat (but not always, so don't panic). If you get a heartbeat you're 75% sure of a live birth. You can also tell whether the embryo's embedded okay and all the usual things like the uterus lining and cycsts on your follicles (normal) and all that.
Bonne chance!
