Natural Help for Hayfever?

Post by jag »

Hello Ladies
Does anyone have any suggestions to help hayfever - summer time has started here and I have it really bad! I know it is a strange question. I normally hit the antihistamines straight away but Zita says they are a no no. Has anyone else taken advice from their doctors about not taking antihistamines during IVF treatment. Does anyone have any suggestions for natural treatments. I'm taking garlic and horseradish tablets and they aren't working, apart from that they taste yucky!

Thanks heaps
From the Sneezing one! :?

I read somewhere that older style antihistamines like polaramine are ok - but I would check with a medical advice line efore taking them.
good luck - I am getting it a bit too, but just trying to stay inside and drink cold drinks.

Hay fever Help

Post by julie n »

I too suffer from hat fever. Not sure why I've got sniffles in England in November but there you go!

My acupuncturist said no to antihistimines initially and then said that this was better than the allergic raection! She said that the worst thing was nasal spray and not to go near that.

Whilst undergoing treatment I've been told that Piriton is OK.

Regards

 Oh i'm laughing I could just imagine trying to squirt salt water up my nose! That would make me sneeze but I will give it a go! DH will think i've gone bananas! This is the third day though of being stuck inside so I will try anything.

Thank you for all your advice. I also had an ansa back from the clinic from the drug department there they said "Anti-allergy preparations in early pregnancy (as advised by drug information)

The safest choice is probably sodium cromoglycate(Rynacrom Forte) nasal spray but this is not fully funded (may cost $20-30)" and also "...steriod nasal spray eg. beclomethasone or budesonide as they are both safe and effective." Interesting they are sending me more info so if anyone wants it let me know.

Thanks heaps for your help.

The sneezy one!

It's an interesting thread, Jag

I have a bee allergy, and if I get stung during pregnancy, it could end it for me. If I have to use benedril or my epipen, odds are very good it damages the fetus, or kills it.

So, here's hoping I stay away from the little buzzers if this cycle works.

Hi Jag

How are you holding up with your allergies? Image

I have loads of allergies ( dust grass foods, perfume, etc). My doc prescribed chlorpheniramine which is safe for ivf and preg.

Also i have been seeing the homoepathic clinic which has given me 'pollen tablets which you can buy from boots or chemist under homeopathic remidies.

Good luck

Hi Jags - I was nervous about antihistamine during treatment (British - June / July time) so I opted for the natural approach and went to a pregnancy specialist acupuncturist. She put quite a few needles in my face (not at all painful) and I'm not exagerrating, I was fine. I always get it really bad and yet I only needed two treatments and apart from a little sneezing on one or two occasions (very short duration and not accompanied by the sore eyes etc) I had no symptoms. I couldn't believe it, I have suffered with it from very early age and was dreading this Summer but it was fantastic. Worth a try maybe?

Hi all

I am feeling lots better! I took the clinics advise and purchased some Rynacrom Forte. I also got some of the antihistamines they suggested - chlorpheniramine. I would only take them though on the advice of my clinic as the packet does say not during pregnancy or breast feeding unless under gp advice etc.

Boy oh boy though they make me high and then sleepy all at once! The pharmacist said that would stop after 4 days. It must be what zebadee felt like - was that the name of the little bouncy thing on The Magic Roundabout?!! :?

All I need to do now is don my sunnies and head out to the sunshine 8) 8)
