Hi Rachel - welcome!
The injections are so daunting at first but you soon just relax into them. For some reason they had the opposite effect on me than most - I was SO chilled out that dp wants me to take them for the rest of my life!!!!!
I see you are in Italy - from what I gather the rules on fertility treatment are very strict. I remember reading something about not being able to freeze or destroy embryos? In that case how many can they put back?
Sorry if I've got that wrong!
AF finally showed her face this pm so working out the dates I could in theory go for FET now in December (If af hadn't been late I would have been away when the scans were due) but i think I'll stick to original Jan plan and go mad at Christmas before being sensible again!!!
Hope you are all havinga good day!

hi cla

ha! dh definitely wants to see an end to the injections as i warned him so much in advance that i could become the wife from hell while on them that he's on his best behaviour and doesn't argue or contradict me about anything!! and it's not normal for him!!!

unfortunately your info is right about italy. the law here is very strict. there was a referendum about it last june and things did get nasty. unfortunately a good opportunity to inform people about ivf and other procedures was lost as the church stepped in and just told people not to vote because if there wasnt a 50% turnout rate the result wouldn't be valid. and that is exactly what happened.

anyway as the law stands you cant freeze embies so you have to start the cycle from scratch every time. and you most certainly cant destroy them unless of course they've been implanted.....then you can have an abortion...go figure. the docs can create a max of 3 embies and you have to implant all 3. of course you can also choose only to have 1 or 2 embies created but as there is no freezing whatever you decide beforehand, 1-3 embies, once they've been created you are legally obliged to have them all transfered. the grading that i've heard some of the others talking about doesnt exist. once the embryo is created it's transfered regardless of grade.

donor eggs/sperm are not allowed either. the end result is that a lot of people are going abroad for treatment.

personally i'm hoping to go for 3 embryos. fingers, toes and everything else crossed that i'll be able. the docs reckon the probability of having triplets is extremely small but obviously the possibility of twins increases greatly which is fine by me.

good news that af has arrived. jan sounds like a good plan. you can relax and celebrate christmas in style!! :D i went to tuscany last weekend and it was agony.....all those bottles of wine calling out to me but i did manage to resist, god only knows how!!

good luck ladies.

I went to Venice last year for a long romantic weekend and it was fantastic, love to go again. Spent a lot of time walking round in circles though! It wasn’t that expensive Nicki, I used my airmiles so it was a bargain in the end. 8)

Pam I am half way through my FET now, providing my body behaves as it should I go in for ET on 30th November then test on 14th December. Sorry about your BFN Pam.

That is fantastic news that your follie has grown Nicki, you must be so relieved. Hope you had a big cuddle with DH last night, I often go through the ‘why me’ stage, haven’t found an answer yet.

Cla that makes it easier having a list of whats happening, thanks for that.

Rachel I had no idea about the laws in Italy, triplets sounds nice Though

Hi to everyone else hope you all had a good day, Ive got a strong urge to go and eat lots of chocolate. Must be the drugs!!! A bottle of wine would be nice to or even a glass, better stick to green tea :D

Hi Ladies,

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread.. Im 33 and hoping to start 2nd cycle FET Jan/Feb 06, I have my consultation tomorrow. Well hoping its our consutlation as it happens I rang the clinic to confirm the time of appointment and what it was for, the lady on the phone seems to think its a follow up appointment from our 1st cycle which resulted in a BFN, surely they would not keep you waiting 4 weeks for a follow up appointment after a -ve. Im hoping she is wrong as im certain we booked an appointment with a consultant for a new cycle. Will let you know more tomorrow. good luck to everyone who are stimming at the moment.

Love to all Mrs M xxxx

Afternoon! I've tried to update the list but it's not very comprehensive! Feel free to change your own circumstances accordingly.

Rachel - I can't believe how strict the guidelines are - these processes are stressful enough without feeling like your're doing something wrong. Here's to three little ones!!!

Nicki - you asked whether FET was easier than IVF. For me it's really easy as I'll be going with an unmedicated cycle. they just start scanning on day 10 and then after you've ovulated will transfer 2 embies on the appropriate day and then you start the 2ww. No down reg, stimms, pessaries for me! A lot different with medicated, but I don't know that protocol? Good luck tomorrow!

Mrs M - I would imagine that this appointmnet is probably a little bit of both. They will probably discuss how they felt the fresh cycle went, how you responded to the drugs etc and any probelms you may have had. Will probably then go on to how best to move forward - I can't remember - did you manage to freeze any embies? If so they'll probably discuss FET. I didn't have a follow up appointment - they said I could have one if I wanted but would have to wait a while. Anyway, my consultant wrote to me instead, just confirming the cycle I had been through - the drugs, doses, no.eggs/embryos etc. and told me after 2 clear cycles, give the clinic a call on day one to make a day 10 scan appointment. Good luck!

Hello to everyone else!!! Hope all is well today!

I'd like to join too please.

We are about to go for our 3rd IVF cycle and I need to contact the clinic now to arrange an appointment - feeling nervous though. We just moved house 12 days ago and returned from a friends wedding in Cyprus last night and are off to Ireland to my family for Christmas so we won't start our next cycle until the new year.

While on holiday in Cyprus we went to the Adonis waterfall & bath and we came across a statue of Adonis & Aphrodite with a sign saying that if infertile women touch his appendage then they would get pregnant so watch this space

oh girls....... i'm not aiming for triplets . i mean, i'll gladly accept whatever i get but i'm not setting out from the getgo for 3 babies at the one time, 3 embryos yes, but triplets might just send me over the edge!!! i don't know about you... i may not even produce enough eggs to fertilize into 3 embryos as i've only got one ovary but fingers crossed.

hey pauline, wow you get around! if adonis works his magic, i'll be on the first plane over! did you go to greek or turkish cyprus? a few years ago i went to a friends wedding in greece and it was fantastic. all that sirtaki dancing...brilliant.

nicki, italy is expensive for some things but not others. accommodation is very costly for what you get but eating out isn't. you should check out ryanair. they do flights to numerous destinations and are always doing great deals.

good luck to everyone scanning and stimming. mrs m good luck with the appointment, hope it goes the way you want it.

take care ladies.

I thought I would get in the festive mood Nicki with my Ticker. FET is easier than IVF, I definitely wont over stimulate so wont end up with a 10 day stay in hospital this time thank goodness. Still take a lot of drugs but you don’t need any eggs so easier in that sense. I see that Cla is doing unmedicated, I wish I was Cla. Ive got pessaries to look forward to

Hi Chinamiff welcome to the 30 – 40 buddies. What made you move to China. Sorry being nosey. :!:

Hello Mrs M, hope your clinic have just got confused and the appointment is to start a new cycle. IVF seems to be more waiting around than anything else.

Pauline did you go to southern or northern Cyprus? My Mum lives in Northern. If it works for you I will go and have a feel of his appendage

Hi Ladies

Hope your all Ok,
Just want to say that Cla is right, my appointment was a little bit of both today. Was mainly a follow up appointment, funny how it brings everything back home when you think your copying well, it was only a month ago I had a BFN. The Dr said I can start again in Jan 06 if I want to, as they have advised to have at least 2AF's before you start a new cycle, so Im hoping next year will be a new year and new member or members of the family, lovely thought isnt is new year new baby :) :)

thanks everyone for good wishes.

Pauline - I have just touched your smiley face at the end of your paragraph for a bit of fertility luck for myself, especially if its may contain fertile water...hee hee..I hope it brings you luck too.

Gailip - I agree IVF does seem to be more and more waiting around than anything else, may our luck will come as they say good things happen to those who wait.. never really thought of that before...

Nicki - Good luck with you scan

love to all and baby dust to everyone
