Need someone to talk to - feel so low

Post by Lis »

Hi everyone,

I just found this site today and really need someone to talk to. DH and I found out yesterday ( after trying for 18 months) that his sperm count is zero and our only hope is ICSI, provided tests show he has some sperm, somewhere. Have read up on this webste all abut what tests will be done but now have an agonising 3 months wait to be seen - and that's just for the initial consultation. Feel so helpless. Does anyone have any advice or has anyone been thro similar? Don't know how we're going to get thro the next few months.

Also good friend is preg and finding it really hard.

Lis,
Honey my heart goes out to you and DH.

I haven't got the info you need on ICSI. But if you post this thread on the GENERAL FORUM...there are more people there who have gone through ICSI and can give you help.

I do understand how difficult it is when someone around us gets pregnant. It hurts BIG TIME. I cannot take the pain away but i do understand.

I hope you get some helpful answers on the general forum. there is also an ICSI thread there you can post to.

Good luck

Jen

Hi Lis,
Sorry you're having such a hard time. I know how hard it is to have to wait, but rest assured the time will fly by. My story is on a different thread hereon introductions. I felt like nothing was ever going to happen, but here we are and it's almost January!
My DH is azospermic after a failed vasectomy reversal. He has just had TESE and had a really good positive result, so hang on in there.
Good luck. You'll find loads of support here. We all feel really down sometimes. I just treated DH to the new Star Wars movie, which we've just watched- bit of escapism and all that. Flipping woman only has twins! You've got to smile, or you'd go bonkers!

Hi Lis and welcome!

Sorry you have to wait so long, I HAte waiting (9 months between my 1st IVF/ICSI cycle and the 2nd in January)

Dont worry, if DH has some sperm somwhere, they will find them! I guess DH will have to go through a sperm retrieval (TESE). It is a simple operation (little incision on the testis), he will be back home on the same day, and you will have all the ingredients to have a little baby!
My hubby had TESE, and he really is a sissy, but he did not complain much! So i guess it is not too bad.

His sperm was frozen, then we used it for ICSI (they choose 1 good sperm for each egg, the sperm is injected directly in the egg. SO it really helps )

Good luck! An i am sure you will soon be bless with a baby!

Take care

Hi Lis

Welcome ! Are you cycling on the NHS ? I'm not trying to bring you down you even further but if so, I'm afraid you'll have to get used to waiting. It took over 3.5 years between our first appointment and our first treatment. If I could do the time all over again I'd definitely go straight to Private.

In the meantime, arm yourself with as much knowledge as possible. Read Zita West's "Fertility and Conception". It's packed full of info enabling you to understand your bodies, and how to be at your optimum for tmt.

Good luck ! Hope your tmt comes around quickly.

Hi I'm a new member and am the grandma of a one year old through ICSI. My daughter was pregnant through ICSI the first time they tried but it resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. the second time she we had our grand daughter and now we are waiting to see if my daughter is pregnant again with one of the frozen eggs. (one of four frozen). My son-in-law had less than 4% good sperm. The important but usually impossible thing to do is relax and also know that life is in God's hands. Good luck

Thankyou Marilyn and Sand. Marilyn it gives me hope to hear of yor daughter's Story - good luck to her. Thankyou for your support. Sand, your right about the wait. The 3 month wait for initial appointment is actually 5 so DH and I are going private. There's no way I can wait that long for answers. I'll keep you posted. Second SA on Tuesday to confirm first one.

Doctor in Thailand can!

Post by Lertluck Sukondhabhant »

Hi,

I read your difficulty to cope with infertility by your DH sperm is Zero.
My doctor in Bkk at Jetanin Hospital might be able to help or advise. He did help some couple who DH had no sperm in cemen but use his tissue to make alive sperm. Something like that. I do not know technic word.

You could try to consult. If you need his telephone number contact my mail. I think I should not post public.

I am now his patient. My main problem is my hormone to produce healthy follic. I did IVF on October, got only 2 eggs which devided to 4 and 6 cell after 3 days. ET and then found out yesterday that -ve. I guess my egg is not strong enough to survive. But I will try again.

My DH said it's my dream, try till success or couldn't by nature not allow!
I thank him for that. He do not mind if we don't have kid.
