Nov 05 Test Dates

Good Evening all,
This is my first cycle and my test date is 11/20....i had ET yesterday....and i'm very nervous and anxious at the same time....I try my best not to let this take over my mind but it's hard at times....I have a question did you all take off a couple days after the transfer?

Thank you everyone for your helpful advice. I am trying to keep my mind off obsessing over it - can't promise I can achieve it though! I'll just keep everything crossed until the 23rd.

Hi Jerzee - welcome & good luck for your first IVF cycle! I think you'll find everyone does things a bit differently after the transfer, but most clinics recommend rest & relaxation for at least a couple of days after the transfer. For my last cycle I flew from Aus to NY 2 days after the transfer - it was all a bit stressful on the body I think. I didn't achieve a pregnancy (I don't know whether this had anything to do with it though).

This time I took a week off work so I could reduce my stress & just do things that were relaxing - I went to the hairdressers, had lunch with friends etc.

I think the important thing is to do what you feel comfortable with. Good luck for your test on the 20th!

Had my FET today and test on the 21. The dethawed and tx 3. My fingers are crossed for all of us!!!

Bella , I honestly thought AF was coming... I had cramps like 2 days after my iui... They got worse on about day7-8... I still have cramps.. My doc says its normal cause the uterus is stretching... other symptoms that i had were sore boobs, constipated, and some weird sharp knife pain in ovary on about the 5th day after my iui...
Any way hope i could help a little...
I go for a sono on tuesday...maybe to see the heartbeat... not sure..

Thanks April. I will try not to think every twinge is a symptom! Actually...what the hell...I will think every twinge means I'm pregnant! After all, I'm pregnant until the test on the 23rd says I'm not!

By the way, I've read (here & in books) that the preg test should be a blood test, but my clinic just gives me a HPT. I have used the brand before (when we were ttc naturally), but it says on the packet that it is for IVF tests. But it seems just a regular pee on the stick HPT.

What do you think - should I ask my clinic for a blood test to be sure? Do you ever get false negatives from a HPT or only false positives?

Hope your ET went smoothly today. Mine went great. Transferred 2 blastocysts. My test date is Nov 25, can you add me to the list.

okay, had my fet on the 10th and I have cramps and sharp pains already...does this mean a big bfn ...this is bad right?? I shouldn't be cramping...so soon??? Help

Hi Dawn,

I don't have any advice as to whether cramps are normal or not, but I just wanted to wish you all the best - keep up the PMA and try not to worry about everything (although I am!!!). I have heard that cramps are a good sign, both from people on this sight and friends that have conceived naturally. I think the important thing is not to stress and keep a PMA for you & the embies.

ET yesterday so my test date is 25th November. I too was surprised to be given an ordinary looking HPT. They say its up to us whether we do it at home or go to the clinic for it.

I generally think we'd rather do it together at home, but then i think, whichever way the result went, we'd want them to double check it!

Anyway - I too am confused, i always thought urine tests were useless for IVF pregnancies?

I am in tomorrow, for iui.....Yes, it's sunday!!! but well, ovulation wont wait til the working week, looks like I will test on 27th Nov....HPT for us too......

Hi Amfy

I can't understand why clinics give out HPT, on my last cycle I bought a HPT, The test showed neg, so I really set myself up that that was it, it was a BFN, but when I didn have the blood test, I had a BFP, but unfortunaltey miscarried at 5 weeks. The doctor told me we shouldn't use HPT's as they are not accurate becuase of the drugs we still have in our bodys, blood test is always best.

Obviously some clinincs work different, but I would recommend getting a blood test done if you can..

Anyway sending you lots of luck on getting a BFP...

My clinic say's do a HPT.....but they do offer bloods too, HPT first choice x
