FET/IVF

Post by babyisalliwant »

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and need some advice on FET. I just got my results from first IVF....BFN :( We were able to retrieve 22 eggs out of which 18 were mature. We did an ICSI split because my husband has low sperm morphology. Luckily, all 18 fertilized. We transfered 2 grade 8A (best quality) embryos. Can't believe this did not work. Have 6 more good embryos frozen. We are planning to get a second opinion.

Has anyone done FET? Doctor says chances of FET are slimmer than fresh IVF. It took me 12 days to recover from Egg Retrieval because of hyperstimulation and I am not doing so well on the progestrone injections either. I would like to know if going for FET is a good idea.

Thanks for your support in advance.

I'm sorry about the negative:(

I know more people who are pregnant from FET than fresh cycles, plus FETs are much easier on you than fresh cycles. I would definitely do an FET before I would go for another cycle.

Good luck:)

Hi, and welcome to the site, sorry about your result, why don't you join us on the general board if you haven't already as most of the girls have made a home there.

I am doing a natural fet in jan/feb and at my clinic their results are the same as a fresh cycle. The good ting is you have still got a number of frosties, which many people don't have, i have got 3. With a natural fet their is no mediacation they just put the 2 embies back 3 days after ov, so very simple and painless. Even if you do a medicated fet, it is still loads easier on your body. If the progesterone shots are a problem could you not change them to the pessaries? just a thought as thats what i had.

Wishing you all the best

Love

hi babyisalliwant,

welcome to this board! youll gets lots of PMA from us girls whove been on tmt for a long while, shall i say!

yes, absolutely, definately you should go for FET, their are great results from FETs, most women find it less stressful too, as there are no drugs etc so more time for PMA, etc.

please remember, that IVF is a journey and although many get lucky first attempt, as many do not, eg i am only 30, got mild endo TTC for four years and have had one cancelled IUI, 2 failed IUIs, 1 cancelled IVF, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed IVF FET, i also suffered a miscarriage at 7 weeks 6 days from a natural conception & are going for another FET in new year...

with the first IVF attempt, many women find that your clinic find out how well you respond to drugs, etc and it is almost like a trial, most destressing when it fails i know, love.

i think you did so well with your first attempt of ICSI & how many eggs were retrieved etc, i think the first is always strange because when it fails you look for answers as we have such high hopes, especially at first.

you must carry on love, as ive just said your last attempt was so encouraging!

if i can be of any further help just ask, i hope ive not upset you more, i just want to encourage you.

good luck in what you decide & hope that next year is OUR YEAR as we deserve it, love donna99 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi babyisalliwant and welcome to the site

Sorry to see your news. Please give yourself time to adjust. It is difficult at this time so take care of yourself and DH. Sending you loads of PMA while you decide what to do.

I don't know much about FET but if you join the general forum there is a FET thread. I'm sure you will find all the answers to your questions there. Plus loads of advise and support from the fab ladies over there!!!

Best of luck with your tmt :)
