MY 1ST TIME

Post by Nicky Dean »

Hi everyone
I came across this website by accident, but im glad I did, so nice to know how it feels to go through this rollercoaster ride. Im hopeing to start at the end of this month, going on hols this weekend for a break before the fun begins. Im 36 and at St Marys in manchester have come to the end of a 3yr wait, very anxious but so glad of the counselling. I have also had a kidney transplant and am very worried what effect this will have on it. Is there anybody out there in the same boat.
Nicky x

Hi Nicky

Just thought i'd let you know i'm at St Mary's too. Our consultant is Dr De, we had our 1st consultation on 26.3.03 and managed to get started with treatment straight away, we are having iui but unfortunatley had to stop tmt due to too many follies, which was a bit of a shock, anyway we can try again in a few weeks.
Have you had your consultation yet? if you have what treatment are you having? It's okay at St Mary's just really busy so you have to get used to waiting your turn for scans blood tests etc but it's worth it, not so sure about all the early morning starts though!
Hope you have a lovely weekend and hope to speak to you soon

Take care
Jackie

Nicky
Just dropped by to say welcome and good luck - can't help you with the kidney I am afraid but would imagine that you stand the same chance as us just make sure you drink plenty of milk and water through stimulation - I guess you need to be more careful than most with this - but hey what do I know - I am the mad one by the way but always around when I can to try and cheer you on - and myself when I find the time.
Take care
Love
Tracey

Hi
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who replied to me, its so great to get feedback from people who are going through the motions...
Jackie we too have had a consultation with Dr De, she was very nice and helpful with the pack of info that you get. We also saw her about the same time as you but felt that we needed to have a holiday as we moved house just before christmas, so we have to ring in after that and hopefully all systems go. How long have you been on the list for jackie ? I am at work now and this is the only time I can jump on as im not on line at home, I work evenings so it will be easier when the treatment starts. I finish work tonite for nearly 2wks, so if I dont get chance to chat again, Take care everyone
Nicky xx
Hi Nicky

Just nipped back on before I'm a celebrity!!! We went on the list and they told us it would be 3 years but we only had to wait for 18 months, when we got our letter to go for the very 1st meeting in december, the one where there was about 80 couples there, i thought there was some mistake but apparently they had got extra funding thats why we could start, so we have been really lucky. I have also had counselling at St Mary's which i found really helpful.
Are you going anywhere nice for your hols, it's a good idea to go away before it all starts, we was going to do that but in the end decided we will just start the treatment and see what happens.

Anyway i'll have to go and see whats happening in the jungle. Have a good holiday and i'll hopefully speak to you when you get back, you never know we might be having our treatment at the same time!
Speak to you soon
Jackie

Hi Nicky,
I am at St Mary's (Manchester) too. We have finally reached the top of the waiting list and we were invited to a meeting on 2nd June. Unfortunately we are going to Greece for 3 weeks from the end of May so we were gutted. However we have been told there will be another one a few months after that. We have had a consultation with Dr Fitzgerald in March. I had to go to St Mary's today for another scan and they have told me that my tubes need to be removed before I can start IVF (risk of toxic fluid??!!). We went on the waiting list in Sept 2001. Although we are Manchester, we are funded by Blackpool NHS. When do you think you will be starting the treatment?
Jackiey - Why have you not started your IVF yet if you have attended the meeting in December? I thought it starts quite soon after that?
Take care and hope to speak again soon,
Lynda
