no heartbeat

Hiya,

It looks like our dreams have been shattered this week.
We had a 7 wk scan on Tuesday after getting a BFP on Oct 26 and they couldn't find a heartbeat. The embryo was also v. small - the size it should have been at 5wks.
We have another scan on Tuesday to be double sure that the embryo has stopped developing, but it's not looking good.
We're gutted and really praying for a miracle.
I'm clutching at straws really and I am prepared for the worst. But you never know.
Life can be so cruel sometimes. After all the headache of IVF to finally get there - only for it to be taken away again so soon.
But that's life and there's absolutely nothing we can do about it. We still have plenty of frozen embryos left and we have to remain strong for them.
I was just wondered if a similar thing had happened to anyone else and they had a positive outcome? I know it's v. unlikely but I was just wondering.

Oh Claire ... I am so sorry to read your news. You must both be so devastated, but pls hang on until Tues. Try to keep talking to baby embie and keep the +ve feelings flowing. Tues must seem like a lifetime away to you. I'll think about you at your scan and wait for your news on Tues night.

Hi Claire,

The same thing happened to me in July. At my eight week scan, the embryo was very small and by week 9, it had stopped growing. It is extremely sad and difficult to cope with especially after going through IVF.

I have had a break for a few months to get my energy levels up and my emotions stable.

I feel a lot better now than I did back than so I can only give you some hope that you will get through this as best you can.

I am sure that you are an emotional ball right now- trying to stay positive that you will get your miracle, but also grieving at the same time and scared to death that it is over. I went through the same thing 2 weeks ago.

I just wanted to say please stay positive. I know its extremely hard BUT when I went to my first u/s at 6 weeks they told us that the heartbeat was very faint, and the chances of it turn to a viable pregnancy were small.... HOLD ON 9 months later I gave birth to a perfectly healthy boy :0)

You never know.
