newbie to this thread

Post by bobs »

Hi i'm a newbie to this website. I have been reading some of the posts for quite sometime now + feel that i would like to join in with you all as it helps to talk to people that are experiencing the same things.
My DH + I have been trying ttc for approx 5yrs. We found out approx 3yrs ago after numerous tests that we have male factor infertility. My DH's sperm is very poor and not at all motile.
We were told by the consultant that the best chance of us becoming pregnant would be through having ICSI.
We have now been through 2 failed attempts of ICSI. Both times, we got to the dreaded 2WW but, my AF appeared on approw days 10 + 11.
In June 05, we started our 3rd attempt but, this got abandoned due to my ovaries overstimulating.
September we started our ?4 attempt but after a very long rollercoaster it eventually had to be abandoned. We are both so fed up + drained! Surely theres more to life than this?? All we want to be is parents!

Hi bobs,

Do not despair. We have had both female and male factors! And now, thanks God, I'm almost 16 weeks pregnant after our 7th IVF with ICSI. My advise to you - if your age is permitting - give to your body a break for a year at least. We've did also 4 first IVFs in less than 2 years and I felt that I could not go anymore - my body was just totaly exhausted. But after two years break + as healthy life style as modern life permits, I gathered enough mental and physical strength to go on.

Take care of yourself and your DH.

SaraS.
Sara, almost 38, 6 IVFs failed, 7th (18.08.05) positive!!!

Thankyou SaraS for your kind words + CONGRATULATIONS. I feel awful for whining after listening to all your ups + downs.
We had just over a yrs break before we started the abandoned cycle but I know what you mean about your body!
This last cycle was the worst as first my follicles were growing normal, then they weren't. The clinic kept having to change my drug dose as I was showing signs of overstimulating again. Then the next time i went everthing was fine. In the end only 1 follicle was growing + the rest weren't big enough to use.
Therefore our consultant decided the best thing for us would be to abandon it yet again as their was no guarauntee that there would be an egg in the follicle as it was too big. I ended up having a 24day period! My poor body + DH. Lol
The follicle is still there. I may have to have it surgically removed but my consultant wants to wait till i've had a couple more periods to see if it will go on its own.

Dear bobs,

your story sounds not so good, but you'll be OK after all - our female bodies are built with quite amazing ability to regenerate.

May be you should try another clinic next time?

Stand firm :) ang Good Luck to you,

Saras

Hi Bobs,

Welcome! I don't really have much to say apart from that we have male factor too (azospermia) but only in the early stages and don''t yet know whether we can go for ICSI.

Wishing you all the luck in the world. You'll definitely find all the support here. Keep smiling :D

Hi Sara.
We did consider moving to a different clinic but, we have some frozen sperm at our clinic and i think it would be too much stressing to get it sent too the next clinic. Not only that, we're lucky to have a clinic in the town we live and don't have to travel!
Im sure 2006 is our year for some good luck! ( We hope anyway). lol
regards, Bobs
