Bleeding at 12 weeks - terrified

Post by bonbon74 »

Hello everyone,

I haven't posted in a while but I'm always reading and keeping up to date. I had some bleeding this morning, proper red blood and I'm freaking out. I went to the local maternity unit and they scanned me and found 2 heartbeats and 2 very active babies. It was lovely to see and did reassure me for a while but now I'm just worrying myself sick. The doctor didn't really have an answer to why i was bleeding but said it was very common. I thought at 12 weeks I'd be past the risk of bleeding. Has anyone else had something similar?

Can't help you with bleeding sorry but I'm sure other people on here can - I've heard many having experiences of bleeding and then being absolutely fine so try not to get too worried. Hope you get some reassurance from other people,

Best wishes, Cherylxx

I had some at 9 weeks. Red. Small clots.
I panicked!!

Doctors did scans, everything was fine. They too said it was common and had no explanation.

Midwife even told of her own story at 10 weeks gushing blood, only to give birth to a perfectly healthy baby.

My new "regular" doctor (not the IVF), said something about some blood getting between the placenta and the uterus wall. She said it was normal, it wasn't hurting the baby, etc.

I'm now at 14 weeks, so far, so good.

It's SO SCARY. But, with the scans you just had, I'm sure everything is fine.

Just be sure to take care, keep your feet up, and try to relax.

Best Wishes,
Susan

Bonbon,
I had brown discharge until 12weeks, not after that..
Jessica had red bleeding ant she was told it was something called sub-chorionic bleeding. Can you ask your doctor to check that out for you and also get an internal check up done to see if your cervix isnt opening up prematurely?I hope they did an internal check for you and not just a scan..
I dont want to freak you out and it could be a one-off, incident, but our babies are so precious, I'd not want to risk anything-
Take care of yourself and please rest as much as possible-
Hope this helps..
Keep us posted sweetie.

bonbon,

My name is Jessica (Smita mentioned me) At 11 weeks I had what the Dr's referred to as 2 sub-chorionic bleeds... There is NOT a lot of information about this but please ask you doctor....I woke up one morning and had AF type bleeding and passed two clots...I freaked and rushed to the ER....Fortunately the scan showed an active little one and my bleeds were not near the baby but I would bring the concern up to your doctor...In the meantime I was given the following advice: I was on bedrest for one week, NO SEX, no heavy lifting (anything over 20 lbs), light duty, etc.....I would suggest in your gentle condition it may not be a bad idea to follow this until the bleeding stops....These bleeds usually resolve themselves upon rest and no rigourous activity...Please feel free to email me if you would like more info....

BTW, if you notice my signature, the loss of my son was NOT due to this condition it was actually something seperate (didnt want to scare you)

Hi Jessica - so lovely to hear from you and so amazing that you can find the heart to be giving others advice. I really admire you. How are things goiing for you? Silly question I guess but I hope you and DH are feeling as well as possible. Have you started helping with the support group for the hospital yet? If so, how is that goiing?

Much love and respect,

Cherylxx

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for your reassuring words. Jessica, you are such a brave and wonderful person, after all you have been thru, to give me advice. I had some more heavy bleeding yesterday and went back to the hospital. All is well with the babies. We had our booking in appointment as well yest afternoon so i saw them again and they are lively and lovely. The doc did an examination and found a small cervical erosion which is probably the reason. Apparently its very common and is caused by a change in hormones. Anyhow, I'm feeling much better. No fresh blood this morning just old stuff which is ok. I'll just keep praying that there's no more. Thank you again. This board is a lifeline.

bonbon,

You are so welcome!! I hope that everything stays that way for you....A few words of further advice....Take it easy, do NOT be afraid to ask your doctors about ANTHING, you are not paranoid you are pregnant and it is ok to question everything! Good luck God Bless and I will continue to pray for you and your babies!

CC,

Thanks so much for your kind words....I have good days and bad days but just trying to focus forward....My faith and my family have been wonderful and yes I have begun to help with the support group through the hospital....We have a memorial service every year in December so we are working on that....This is where we remember our precious babies....I think what helps me get through is the following: I did something special that not everyone can do - I gave birth to an Angel (of course that Kenny Chesney song - Who you'd be today KILLS ME) and I know that my dear Connor will make sure his brothers and sisters come into the world safely....It still hurts and I can't wait to be pregnant again, but I am managing....Thanks again hun!
