Introducing Angela - 1st IVF dec hopefully

Post by yogibunny »

Hi,
My name is Angela and I am hoping to start IVF as soon as possible. I have a little girl already who will be three in January. We have been trying for another baby for 18 months now, only to discover last month that both my tubes were damaged following the caesarian I had.

I have had my consultation at the clinic and and just waiting for some test results (HIV, heb b and c) to come back from GP before we can get started. Only problem is my period will probably start before they are back - so I'm hoping that they will be a bit lenient about this and still let me schedule it all etc.....

I'm still taking on board so much information, but wanted to introduce myself here and hope that it helps to get me through the process - as I tend to worry alot. I'm sorry but I don't know all the acronyms you use - is there a list somewhere?

By the way - I've read somewhere that taking asprin can increase chances with IVF - any advice on this?

Thanks and wish me luck!

Hi Angela and welcome to the site.
You may like to join the general forum and meet up with ladies cycling at the same time as you. Lots of support and advise coming your way :)

There is a list of acronyms on the general forum at the top marked 'Sticky'

Don't know much about aspirin though, sorry. I'm sure one of the wise women on here will be able to help.

Good luck with your tmt (treatment)

Bye for now

Hi Angela

Welcome to the Site !

Sorry to hear they've damaged your tubes. Hope you can get started asap... It's a bit difficult in terms of timing as you need certain tests (eg FSH) on day 2/3 of cycle, before you can start trmt (so it's not just the clinic being difficult).

Re the aspirin : Some clinics do recommend Baby Aspirin - some don't. Those that do believe it can thin the blood in the uterus during implantation, and therefore increase the chance of inplantation.

Good luck !!

Hi Angela,

This is my first ICSI/IVF cycle and I am also new to this site.

I also have a daughter as well as a son, so I know how frustrating it is not being able to concieve when you have done before!

I don't think your period will be a prob as you don't start sniffing untill week 3 of cycle, although you will need to have your drug regieme before hand so there might not be enough time to this before day 21.

Hope everything goes well

Hiya Angela,

Like the other ladies have already said, you will get lots of advice and support on this site. I am nearing the end of my first IVF cycle and the advice I would give is ask your clinic questions and ask them to explain exactly what they mean and what the implications are. All clinics are different and use different drugs and I'm afraid that dates etc can't be guaranteed. The most important thing I have learned is not to pin your hopes on initial dates as they most certainly will be brought forward or unfortunatley put back by up to a few days at a time. I have learned over the past few weeks that it really is out of your hands and you just have to wait and see how you respond at the different stages. Sorry to go on and on, but if I had been a bit more prepared, the last few weeks might not have been QUITE so stressful.

Take care and good luck.

:)

Many thanks for all your replies. I appreciate it.

I have now spoken with the clinic and they have given me a provisional schedule to start day 21 drugs on 16 December! The results should all be back in time for this to all go ahead I hope. I wasn't sure about whether it is sensible to start this over Christmas (and my little girls third birthday in early Jan)? I just hope I don't react too badly to ruin Christmas...

I will ask about the asprin next time I talk to them.

Should I be joining a December thread for cycling or a January one?

Many thanks
Angela
