question!

Post by rachel r »

Hi everyone,

back on here after my much needed holiday (unsuccessful 1st time icsi in May). I hardly recognise anyone's names!

Anyway, just have a question. Bang on time, on the test date, my af arrived and i had a v. heavy bleed (but it was bio-chemical, so that's why). AF was due on Friday 13th June, but still hasn't arrived. Did a test but of course it was neg! Its now 6 days late and Im worried because i've only ever been 3 days late at the most. Right on cue, the pains started on Friday 13th and have been on and off ever since, but no bleeding. Has anyone had this and if so, what was the prob?

LOL

Rachel
x

Hi Rachel,
I would wait a couple more days, then if no a/f, test again. If this is the cycle directly after your icsi, then you may have a longer than usual cycle. (My cycle is usually 26-27 days but after IVF it was 34 days for one cycle, then back to normal) If you temp every morning then you should notice a drop in temps when a/f is due to arrive.
Good Luck
Missy

question!

Post by Helen GB »

Hi Rachel,

I have just had my first failed IVF so I can't offer any insight into your problem but I have another question related to it.

My 2ww was up on Wednesday and the night before I started AF. Wed I tested -ve and took no more progesterone (so the last one I had was Tues night). Although I bled overnight and into yesterday morning, it was very light and by lunch time had stopped completely. Since then I have had spotting on and off - it is red not brown, and no pain at all even though I was getting severe AF pains on Sunday and before! What I was wondering is how long before I get a proper bleed...I am assuming that it takes a while for the progesterone levels to drop sufficiently for the bleeding to get going properly. Should I phone the clinic or is what I am experiencing a common problem?

Thanks
Helen

hi rachel

welcome back glad you had a good hols

every time i have had a failed tmt my af has always been a week or more late. I really did think i was pg the first time as the clinic did not tell me it could be late. It was just like the tmt had failed again. I have spoke to the clinic i go to and they are going to put in their sheets explaining ivf that af could be late. It just shows you how strong the drugs we are taking are.

hoper af arrives soon for you.

helen my af was really light but the natural one after tmt is always heavy. But it would not hurt to test again to be sure.

from july ann
