Got results of my hsg finally today. I wasnt impressed with the doctor as he wasnt forthcoming in explaining things properly, after waiting so long and thinking the absolute worst, it seems he expects me to go away without understanding what it all means.
So im hoping, well i pretty much know that most of you if not all will know so please can you tell me what usually happens in this case.
He says my tubes were clear but the "fingers" at the end seemed to slow down the dye from coming out at its normal flow. He was muttering what was written and when i asked to look at it..he only moved it slightly towards me and made it difficult to actually see it properly ..so i asked him to write down a particular phrase and he wrote something else entirely and his writing is not to clear!! What i remember it says something starting with a B then pelvic adhesions. what he wrote was Bilalcial Lubal or Tubal Palency (im not sure i got the spelling right there).
He has now referred me to another hospital, he mentioned something about an operation maybe but it had a low succes rate and most likely assisted conception is what i would get.
Anyone make this more clearer for me?

Sorry I have no experience with this, but from what I understand the fingers act like little brushes to help the egg out of the tubes and into the womb, I guess is they are slow then the egg may not reach to womb in time to implant?
Have you tried looking up the phrase you were given on the internet.
I'm sure someone on here will have experience though.
Julie,
What the doc was muttering was about bilateral(meaning both sided) tubal patency( patency meaning goodness/clear passage-no blocks- how good they are in pushing the eggs to the uterus) - what matters here is whether he said that patency is positive or negative or in doubt..
The part about pelvic adhesions could mean( from what you have written) that these adhesions(extra bits of growth) are preventing the eggs from reaching the uterus on time for fertilisation to occur- Pelvic adhesions could happen to anyone and could be a result of any internal infection which we women have no clue abt- we would normally put down any lower abdominal pain to cramping during ovulation/ periods, so its difficult to find out when those adhesions happened.
Each tube has these finger like projections at the ends called Fimbria- like KT said and they are supposed to literally pluck the egg from the ovary and push it towards the uterus for fertilisation to happen..
About surgery(I can only think of a laproscopy)- they will examine your tubes closely and remove those adhesions and then tell you you are free to try normally for a baby, but would also tell you that it would be in your best interests to go in for an IVF as these adhesions could recur in the future, thus preventing/delaying conception..
I have been diagnosed with blocked tubes, with severe scarring(which means the tubes are scarred like skin from the inside and outside due to some infection, and have therefore lost their function)So no choice but IVF.
You seem to have it better- but adhesions are somethings that do need looking into.
Take care sweetie- feel free to ask anything if you want to know.
I only hope this helped clear things a bit more and not muddle you further.
Wishing you luck,
smita

Thank you so much Smita. I was checking back constantly to see if anyone had information for me..
Ok so i think i should read up on IVF then if there is no guarantee of adhesions not coming back. It cant hurt to know about all the ins and outs of it when i do get my next appointment if it were up to me to make a decision about how to proceed.
I was telling my hubby about your help with my previous posts and how you helped again today. He even corrected my pronoucation of your name!!!!
Thanks again.

Bella,
We live and we learn huh?
Sometimes I think the only reason I wouldnt want to have a girl( dont know the sex yet) would be cause i dont want my loved one to go thru this mental upheaval..
I've gotten so much support from here- its become a lifeline of sorts!
