Only one egg transferred

Post by all4baby »

Hi everyone,
This is my first time on this site and my first time going through IVF. I am really looking for some support. I am on my 2ww and it is going to be a tough one. I went for my ET yesterday and they only transferred one. I am 25 so I am hoping that it will take. Anyone have any similiar experiences that is willing to share. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi All4baby
I know a girl on October buddies who only had one embryo transferred and she got a positive. You've got a good chance so hang in there.
Lots of luck

Hi Leigh,
Thank you for your reply. I am trying to hang in there. I have developed a mild-moderate case of OHSS which makes everything a little more uncomfortable. I go for my bloodwork on Dec 8 so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the encouraging words.

Hi Leigh,
Sorry I am posting another reply but I wanted to ask if you have gone through IVF before and if you have, how was your experience? Thanks again.

Hi All4baby,

As Leigh said we had someone from the October group only transfer 1 and she just got a positive Fri. I have gone through IVF and found the process stressful. You keep thinking things will move faster than they actually do and find that this is just a waiting game. If you don't have patience you will learn to find it quickly.

As for our October girl. Her name is Camilla and she can be found mostly posting on the General Forum under October 05 Cycle buddies. Post your question to her, I am sure she would be willing to share her experience.

There are also several other posts on the General Forum. Come over there and you will find a lot more of us.

Good luck,
Stephanie

HI all4baby!!

1 is all it takes... keep positive!!
I think it also depends on the quality of the egg.... I am 23 and had 3 ok-ish quality eggs transfered and none survived... So you have had only one transfered but I am sure it is a super quality one!!

Wish you the best and a lot of patience for the dreaded 2ww!!

Keep well and loads of baby dust!

Have a nice week end

Hiya, Just wanted to add - I only made one embie last May 2004, and it was only 2 cell - well I jumped off the theatre bed adamant it wouldnt work, (DH told me to steady on a bit!!)and blow me two weeks later a positive!!! I saw a heartbeat at 6.wks 4 days - but sadly miscarried at 9 wks. But it can and does happen. Apparently the UK HFEA have been in talks for a couple of years, and eventually everyone will only be allowed to have one embie replaced>>! Thats what the nurse told me last year.

Stay positive !!

Me currently on 3dpt aaarrhhhhh no finger nails left

Hiya,
I am 31 and also only had one embby transfered. I have had my IVF here in New Zealand where last year they passed a bill which means if you are under 34 they will only ever transfer one embryo at a time!!!!

But anyway the reason they do this is because overall stats are becoming so much better, that especially for younger woman they really feel here that one embryo is enough.

Though I too wish that it was possible to have more than one, thought I would tell you that theres thousands of woman here with only one embryo being transfered and many many many of them become pregnant!! My friend just went through her first cycle and became pregnant on a single transfer frostie!! So try not to worry! (yeah right!!) When do you test???

HI there,

I just wanted to say that in Australia there is talk of restricting all transfers to one embyo except for those over 40. So the odds of success must be fairly good with one = Good luck.

Hi all4baby,

I am as well on my 2ww with only ONE egg transferred. So trust me you are not alone. I am 27 yrs old and trying to be very optimistic about it. I will take the HPT test on Sunday. I wish you the best of the luck. It really only takes one to make it happen. So far my boobs are still sore..so I guess that is a good sign. But I really cant read into it becuase you will never know until you take the test.

Let me know how things go..Fingers are crossed!
