It’s been a real emotional roller coaster. My doctor just called me and said it's more then a 50 percent chance they will be canceling my cycel. They instructed me to have my tubes removed which I did on the 10th of this month, now she's saying sometimes when your tubes are removed the blood supply doesn't go to the ovaries. They said they can only give me one more cycle with the highest dose of medication if that won't work then unthaw my only two embies I have frozen and if that won't work adoption or donor eggs. I didn't have this problem my last cycle. This is the worst news and I can't stop crying. I need a miracle. Has anyone heard of this when having tubes removed?
Tonya,
I'm so sorry you're going thru this roller-coaster..
I had my tubes removed this january because of Hydrosalpinx on both sides.. I have not heard of this thing of blood supply not going to the ovaries.. its strange and frankly, I find it hard to believe.
What I would think is, that since you are not responding to stims, they are wondering whether they should start with donor eggs or something else..
I was suggested donor eggs too, but that was cause my FSH levels were really high- they came down to an acceptable level and so we didnt have to consider any other option..
Have you had your FSH levels tested? Usually, that makes a difference to our response to stimulation..
Another thing I would do is ask the doctor if they can change the drugs next time- we all are different and react differently to different drugs..
So its not always the increasing the dose that works, but changing the whole protocol..
Do you have an option of a second opinion? Can you go to another clinic and get yourself tested for all bloods?
This is NOT end of the road for you- I feel your clinic is just trying to cover itself..
Dont worry sweetie, there is always another way.
Go talk to them in a calm frame of mind(which must be really hard right now,I know) and ask them to explain everything properly- I seriously cant understand /believe the blood flow thing
hope this helped..
hugs,
smita

i'm really sorry to hear you're being put through the mill. i agree entirely with smita, definitely have a second option if at all possible. i've never heard of the blood supply not going to the ovaries because of tube removal and i consulted 4 different specialists on the subject of tube removal after finding out mine was blocked. not one, italian or irish, mentioned it and 3 of them were against removal so it would have been another good reason to support their argument.
as for not responding to stimms, you may just need to change protocol. i didn't respond so next time round i'm not downregging, i'll just go straight to stimms. it's called a short/flare cycle for people who respond badly. i think your clinic needs to discuss all options very clearly with you. it's sounds a bit premature to talk about donor eggs, it may just be one of those things that insensitive doctors say off hand while you're still struggling to take in that they may cancel your cycle.
i hope it all works out and you don't have to cancel. try and keep a PMA, easier said than done i know.
My last cycle I too was told I had a Hydrosalpinx in my left and only remaining tube. They said it wasn't a problem b/c that tube is blocked right at the end where the tube meets the uterus so it was not spilling into the uterus. I don't have a right tube and don't know anything about the blood flow but now that I think about it my right ovary did not produce as many follicles as my left tube did. Maybe that was the problem I do not know. No one told me that. It could have just been my left ovary is better who knows.
Some people are born with no tubes at all and I can't imagine them not being able to do IVF b/c they don't have blood flow to ovaries! Sounds ridiculous to me.
I agree with the other ladies, sounds like they need to change your meds. Follistim is good but it doesn't work for everybody.
Keep the faith...I'll be praying for you!
