Hi All!

I'll be dropping out of this thread as we've decided to wait until March before doing our FET. A few reasons really...

I think it'll be good to allow my body some time to recover from the excesses of Christmas and New Year to give us the best chance.

The Goddess Zita says Spring is a good time to try and get preganant because you are working with nature.

It gives us an extra couple of months to get the money together, especially with the cost of Christmas (and repairing the boiler which just keeps turning itself off at the moment)

But mostly, I think I need a bit of emotional space. I've sort of realised that I'm not really up to jumping straight back in. A couple of weeks ago I was wishing everyone love and luck as they came up to their test dates, and sending congratulations and commiserations through my tears of joy or sadness as people's results came through. Since my BFN I don't feel like posting anything to anyone, which I know sounds mean but it's like I'm emotionally running on empty.

So - I won't be a New Year buddy anymore, although I felt at home with you and I'll pop in to see how you all are. Good Luck everyone!

Hi Amfy

Hello everyone

Hello girls - looks like we are all in for a bumpy ride in January. Thought I would join you for some moral support and shared understanding. I was hoping to start my medicated FET this month but the ET would have been xmas week so I am now waiting for AF to come. Problem is that I am so irregular but fingers crossed she will show up in the next week or so. I will than start day 21 on Buserelin injections. This means I will be an early Feb results girl if AF shows up next week. I feel anxiety mixed with excitement.
Anyone do the following:
1 - spend a fortune on Folic acid year in, year out?
2 - spend a fortune on preg. tests year in, year out?
3 - worry how you would cope with a multiple pregnancy even though you are desparate for a child / children?
4 - foolishly work out the day your baby/ies would be born the day your AF arrives? (I don't admit this to anyone who knows me!)

Fingers crossed for all of us waiting for AF!
Look forward to chatting to you all over the next month or so...
Sophie :)

Ahhhhh thanks!

How long have you guys been at this? You guys seem to know each other...

So for those of you who have done this before, what advice can you give a first timer? How many doctor visits a week? Any side effects from the drugs? Does the egg transfer hurt?

Hi There!

Sophie, welcome!
AH well, we are all the same, yes to all your questions ! I f I had been pregnant from my last IVF, I should give birth next month!!

I should also test end Jan, beginning Feb, all depends on the tmt, I will know more about it next week.

Hope your AF will arrive soon!! :P

JenC, if you have difficulties with the abbrevations, there is sticky post at the beginning of the general forum. But ask, it's quicker!

You will see, you'll get to know all the girls quickly! I am on here every day!! So great to find people who really understand us!

First time IVF is a bit scary... My advice to you would be to be really patient and to keep the PMA (positive mental attitude) going.
Visits to the doctors depends on your doc and on which tmt (treatment) you are.
I dont have to go to the doc for the 1st week, but then on the 2nd week I go for a scan every 2 days. and after, EC and ET!
ET is definitely NOT painfull, maybe just uncomfortable. As for EC, most of the time it is not painfull, but some girls have said it to be . (it was very very painful for me... )

Then the 2ww are the worst... stay away from Pregnancy test, you will be tempted to test early , only to get disappointed or freak out.

I got few kilos extra from the tmt (all around my tommy  ) and few black hairs  at unusual places for me (upper lip, belly button...)
I lost the weight now, but the hairs are still coming back!!

ok, got ot go, so speak soo ladies!
