Hi Girls,

How's it going, hope you are all well.

I need some advice pls. As some of you know I am still thinking of going private, but I heard sometimes the GP will fund the drugs for ivf. I asked my gp but he wasn't very helpful. I was wondering if they is a special office I could ring to find out if any gp fund drugs in my area, what's the best way to go about this?

Thanks
Pat
x
Hi Pat

It is not your GP's decision but that of your Local Health Authority. Ask your surgery which LHA they come under and phone them up direct (you can get the number from Directory Enquiries if GP won't give it to you). They will tell you exactly what their rules on funding are and whether you qualify. For example, my GP would have funded all our treatment but the LHA rules were such that they would not pay for my IVF treatment as I am over 35 and already had a child. They would pay for the drugs for 3 attempts though....so it is definitely worth pursuing.

Good luck
Helen
