new year buddies

Post by donna99 »

hi guys.

hope you are all doing ok and coping with the awful waiting game yet again!!!

im lucky enough to be going away over xmas to canary islands with DH as i couldnt face doing my FET during the xmas period, find it hard enough anyway!

just to fill you in if youve not already read my profile....im 30 years old, DH 33 years old and ive got mild endo but our clinic says we just need a bit of luck (great but quite frustrating!)

this next FET will be out 9th treatment cycle, hard to believe!!!

during our first IUI i suffered OHSS
second IUI -tive
third IUI -tive
first IVF suffered OHSS
second IVF -tive
first FET -tive
second FET no embies survived
third IVF -tive
third FET due to request treatment for in january and ET in february depending on when AF arrives!

inbetween all these tmts i concieved naturally only to result in a miscarriage at 7 weeks and 6 days. i dont think that even 11 months on i have come to terms with this....

anyway, onwards & upwards guys and lets hope that next year is OUR YEAR!

thinking of you all & are really gutted for all the BFNs ive been seeing for the december girls....the november bunch seem to have been luckier....but hopefully well get more BFP for the december girls, hey?

enjoy xmas & new year girls and catch up real soon.

ps, glad to have found this site, only really joined in over the last couple of months find it a huge PMA gain and it really does make you realise that you are not loosing it and that many many of us are experiencing the same difficulties; i only felt like it was me until i joined you guys, so thanks so much i believe that well get eachother thru this....

carry on for what you believe you deserve,

Hi girls,
Just to let you know AF arrived last night. It's the first time I have ever welcomed her with open arms. I am to start sniffing on 1st Jan- New Year's Day! I hope it's a good omen. So looks like I shall be having EC around first week in Feb. Does this still make me a New Year Buddy?
I'm just trying to work out how I'm going to stay healthy over the festive period. I can't really see it happening. We are off to Tallin for 4 days and I keep thinking of Vodka and Beer- yum!
We had terrible trouble trying to fit in my initial appointment at the Clinic. The first option I was away, the second I had a concert (which I offered to cancel), the third is this Friday and I am going to be VERY unpopular when I tell one very unhelpful person that I can't take his choir on Friday morning. It really is the sillt season, isn't it?
DH seems delighted. He's been singing all morning. I'm really pleased.

Donna, sounds like you'll have a great time over Christmas. At least you will be nice and warm. I'm just looking into sending my Mum and Dad to Granada in January. Does anyone know what the weather will be like there? My Mum really needs a break, but I keep thinking that the money could go towards our treatment. Feel like I'm in a bit of a cleft stick!

Anyway- onwards and upwards. Here's to the New Year.

Dear All,
M heart goes out to you all! Donna, what a history you have behind you! Reason enough for things to work out for you in the New Year! Bestest of luck! Wish you all the strength in the world to cope with the nxt few weeks.
I'm likely to also be a Feb test date (will start day 2 of AF, likely to be 3rd of January), so think ET will be first week in Feb. Do I still count as a New Year buddy?
The waiting now is torturous, but at least Christmas will take our minds off things. I wanted to run this cycle over Christmas, but my clinic close the labs for a week (to clean them), which would have been my EC and ET week, so had to hold on until January when everything is open again...DH is not looking forward to our next treatment (he remembers the mood swings more than I do...), but just the glimmer of hope that it might work outweighs it all, I think.
Good luck and lots of PMA to you all. So great to know this place is here to turn to if we're feeling low...
Love,

Hello All,

Lynne, Bina, & Donna-- I am hoping to be joining you all. I am currently waiting for AF to show. She should be here by the end of the week but I am hoping she comes early! As soon as she arrives I start BCP on day 3 and then lupron on day 17. That should put EC around the end of Jan, 1st of Feb.

This is my first go at IVF. A little background... I have a lung disease where the little hairs called Cilia, that filter your lungs do not work. You also have Cilia in your fallopian tubes that help move the embie to the uterius. The doctors never could say for sure if I would have trouble getting pregnant or not. So we decided to try, I did 2 rounds of clomid and got pregnant but it was an ectopic. I had to have surgery and they removed my left fallopian tubes. The ectopic was so hard on us that we decided to move straight to IVF. The fertility doc thinks that I am a perfect candidate for it and that since my cilia does not work she is not worried about me having an ectopic with IVF, because there shouldn't be any motion coming from my tube to pull the embie in.

I live in the USA and the state that I live in doesn't require insurance to cover IVF so we are having to pay out of pocket. I am really hoping that it works the first time because we do not have the funds to do very many. I am at least hoping that if it doesn't work that I will have lots of embies to freeze and FET is cheaper.and we will be able to afford a couple of those if this one doesn't work out!

Wishing everyone lots of baby dust!!

Hi guys!

Lynne, how exciting!! I am sure it is a good omen to start on the 1st of Jan!!
Yeah of course you are a new year bud! February is still the new year no?!!
Tallin?! sounds great! Have an ex boyfriend there and since then, I cant have 1 glass of vodka, it put me off for life (because I had way too many!!)
And what a nice thought for ur mum and dad, but i understand the concern with money, IVF isnt cheap and every penny is welcome...

Bina, i am the same, clinic is closed over x mas so i have to wait for January...
Your cycle seems different... On my last IVF, I also started on day 2 of AF. I was straight on stims (no pill, no downregg?...) for 10 days only and then i had EC... But yours is longer? I have to say I dont understand and dont know yet what tmt i am going to have this time, cant wait for my next week appointment to know a bit more!

Jeck, I hope you will be a lucky first timer!!
I am sending you positive thoughts for AF to arrive soon!!

Take care

Hello Everyone.

Besides the folic acid, is anyone taking the recommended vitamins and minerals recommended by Zita West? I love her book, particularly the IVF section (for those who haven't read it, the book is called fertility and conception, by Zita West - I bought mine from waterstones), but I find all the recommendations so confusing! I have bought all the things recomended but wonder whether to start taking them or to just rely on my body to provide the essentials (I eat healthily)

What, if at all, are you girls doing with regards to this?

Souris - had a great night out thank you. Good food and good friends make for a great night out don't they! Even better - I had slight spotting when I got home which means that AF will be arriving in the next few days (I hope! I just want to get started.) When are you expecting to start?

Love, warm hugs and lashings of baby dust to you all!

Hi all,
Hope you all had a good weekend (esp. Sophie - great to hear you had s fab night out?)
Our wasn't so great with mother-in-law having been transferred into Leeds Hospital after a car accident (we live in London), DH driving up to see her on Sat. then back down here Sunday, only to visit another old friend in hospital here - too many hospitals! And that's before we've even started our own treatment.
Souris, yes, I am going for the long protocol with downregging (buserelin)from day 2 until about day 17ish, then start stims (puregon) for 2 weeks, followed by EC and 2 days later ET, with the much dreaded 2ww at the end. We did discuss going for the shorter protocol, which has the same success rate, but I just felt that if it didn't work I would always curse myself that we didn't do 100% the same as we did last time, which worked. So we're going for complete replication in the hope luck will strike twice, which is surely sooooooo unlikely... but there you go. I just don't want to look back in a few years and regret having down things differently and then blame myself for it.....
Sophie, re vitamins, I took (and still do now) the basic vitamins recommended by Marylin Glennville (similar thing to Zita I think) i.e. pregnancy vitamins (incl folic acid), zinc, multivitamin and flaxseed (fish oil); just those 4 and hope they'll do the trick.

How is everyone coping with work? Are you telling your bosses/colleagues or keeping it to yourselves? Just wondered, because we are now telling less people that first time round, just to sort of keep the pressure down.....

Hope you're all having a good Monday!
Lots of love,

Hi everyone!

Sophie, I do take vitamins, they are called materna, i dont really know what is in there, but my doctor prescribed them for my last IVF. They are vit for pregnant woman, with all what pregnant woman needs.
You wouldnt imagine that AF could be a great B'day present huh!!

Bina,
you are right not changing the protocol, it works the first time so why changing!! For me , short protocol worked (as far as producing follies...) but if the clinic ask for long protocol, i will go for it.
Sorry to hear about ur Mother in loaw and friend, not very funny ...

I am not working so I dont have to tell anyone about the tmt. Some girls here have very good bosses and collegues who help them during the tmt, but unfortunately, some are not so lucky and have many difficulties with this....

Tomorrow i am going home, and I will be tired because of the flight. so i wont post for a couple of days!
I have clinic appointment on the 15th so i will let u know what they said!!

Take care

Hello again.

Thank you for telling me what vits you have been taking.
Bina - hope your family/friend are okay - what an awful weekend! I hope things improve this week. With regards to telling people, I'm not working at the moment but I will be telling friends on a need to know basis - i.e, if I'm feeling particularly rough and need someone to help with my daughter for a few hours. During my last IVF cycle I did not tell anyone until I got severe OHSS - that was when I needed them the most. A couple of friends were upset that I hadn't told them but I explained that I didn't want them asking me about it all the time and telling me that I would definitely conceive (people always assume that IVF always works first time!) I have told them that when I try again I will not tell them unless i need to and they understand although they are always asking me when I'll be trying again!
Souris - hope you had a comfortable journey - where is it you have gone home to? Good luck for the 15th!!!!!

AF still not arrived but still spotting slightly so maybe tomorrow!
