Hi. I imagine different clinics have different ways of doing things. But I was told to inject into my stomach. Have also heard of being told to inject into your thigh. I was given an auto-injector, you load the needle into it and it fires the needle into you like a dart when you press a button! The first time is a bit alarming but you soon get used to it and it doesn't hurt. The thought is worse than actually doing it. Hope this helps.

Last 2 cycles I (or rather my DH) injected into my leg. We were lucky enough to have a pen injector so I didn't see the needles going in. I found the injections painful, it hurts for a few seconds. Try to get a pen injector it makes the whole thing easier to deal with. My first cycle I had one injection a day, my last cycle I had 2 a day and also in my next cycle I will be having 2 a day - oh joy!
Well, when I first heard the word 'injection' I imagined a comedy massive needle with a big plunger and pain. Thought I wouldn't be able to do it. So a little pricking pain that only lasts a few seconds and you can't even see the needle going in seems a doddle! I was the only girl in my year who didn't have rubella or BCG at school cos I'm so scared of injections, so I understand you being apprehensive but it really isn't bad.

I had 1 injections a day, i prepared and did the mix myself (i had to mix some powder and some liquid). I decided to do the injection in my butt (well on the side of my butt). It was scary as it was the first injection i ever did (to me or to someone else!)
I pinched my fat with my left hand and injected with the right. It did not hurt, felt weird though.
The only thing i was scared of was the air bubbles!
All went well, and i am starting again in Jan!
The auto injector does sounds painful!!
Take care

Oops, didn't mean to scare anyone! Maybe I let my descriptive writing run away with me, mentioning firing darts etc! Honestly it is just a little click. Out of roughly, say, 15 injections I felt a little sharp stab once and a bit sore round the site of the injection for a couple of minutes after, a couple of times.
I was worried about air bubbles too but the nurse said as you're not injecting into veins not to worry about it.
I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine. Wishing you lots of luck.

Hi Mrs gill
I went to the same clinic as Ellie, so I also had the auto injector and injections were subcut not into the muscle, which makes it a lot easier! I did the injections in my stomach at first. I tried it once in my thigh, but it made me jump, so I didnt dare try that again in case I lost part of the injection! However, thats just my experience. I know some women find this easier. I must admit, I got fed up half way through my treatment and decided to let DH inject me in the bottom! I think this helped because it took some of the responsibility away from me and kept DH involved.
Good luck with your treatment!

on the injections: My hubby and I have found for the intramuscular- (hip), numb the area just a bit with an ice cube before injection and then immediately following, lay on a heating pad for no less than 1/2 hour-- no lumps, no brusing and NO tenderness!! I have also found that giving myself the progesterone (after transfer) injections in my thigh are more easier than the hip, due to the med is quite thicker because it is in sesame oil. Also have found that with the progesterone as well, after getting syringe ready for injection-- run it under hot water just for a few seconds-- helps with the thickness and makes it easier to inject. Giving the shot to myself in the thigh was a piece of cake!! Numb it and then inject-- so much easier, and even without a heating pad on thigh- no bruising and no soreness. Hope this small tips help. Good luck !!!
