icsi treatment..

hi guys i am waiting on going for icsi treatment round about jan/feb time my dh is going for sperm retreval as he has a blockage . but whT I WANT TO NO IS THE ICSI WHEN THEY RETREVE THE FOLICALS DOS THIS HURT I NO THEY GIVE YOU A DRUG AND THAT BUT NOW ITS GETTING NEAR I AM STARTING TO FEEL NERVUS i no it will be worth it in the end but ,im starting to worry i suppose i have the easy part poor old dh when he gos in on the 20 and gets the opp on thr 21 my herat gos out to him can anyone put my mind at ease i hope so !

retrieval feels different for everyone... for most of the ladies, they wake up feeling uncomfortable, maybe a bit sore. The clinic will give u painkillers if needed. Bloated is definitely the feeling for most of us.

I personnaly had a bad retrieval, very painful. But i think i am an exeption!

Dont worry, DH op is not that bad neither, you should both be fine!

Hi Jeffers - I had ICSI 3 times and each time retrieval no problem at all - much less pain than having a filling at dentist. However, I did have general anaesthetic (it's only mild - only 'out' for about 10-15 mins). If you get choice you might like to consider general rather than sedation because with general you don't know anything, you just wake up with mild period pains. Of course, as Sourius says it is different for everyone but don't get worried about the pain cos you will probably be one of many who find it fine - pain and problems are very rare - I developed OHSS on my 3rd go which is quite rare but even that wasn't horrendous - just uncomfortable and definitely worth it - I'd do it again 10 times if it meant being pregnant - its more than worth it!

(P.S - Sounds a bit naff but why not get yourself all ready with some new purchases - I got myself all worked up -in a good way - each time with a new bag, selection of toiletries, loads of DVDS for my 2ww, my favourite foods etc in cupboard, new pyjamas and loads of magazines etc - I treated it like a forthcoming holiday and it really helped me to feel positive about the treatment rather than nervous of it)

I had ICSI too cause DH has bad morphology. WHen I had the retrieval, I was nervous as you are though I found it very quick. They had me under sedation and when I woke up, I felt bloated. I had to rest for like an hour then went home. It was quite difficult to walk at first because I really felt sore but it disappears in a day or 2.

i thought you were sadated but were aware what was happing that sort of thing ....
