Hayley in Belfast

Post by KJ »

Hi Hayley,
Thanks for your reply to my message about the book. I've searched high and low with no luck.
Hayley, I have my first appointment with Prof Nigel McClure on November 24 in the Royal Victoria.
I know so little about the IVF process, though am learning fast. I have two friends who went through it and both said the same thing to me 'don't overload on information and try and relax.'?????
Hmm, we'll see. Just don't want to go to Mr McClure blind. Rather have too much information than none at all.
I be in Belfast regularly (two best friends still in the city) and if you are up for it, would love to meet you. Maybe you could help fill in the gaps. I bought Prof McClure's CD-ROM and found it very very helpful but talking to ladies who have been there-done that with the clinic I will be attending would help a lot.
If you can't do it, or feel it's inappropriate, that's OK, I'll understand.
Are you involved in Stork at all? I did think about joining in but am only in Belfast early part of the week and they meet on Thursdays.
Hayley, again a big thankyou for replying.
There is another girl called Nicky who is also attending the Royal who sent me a message. Don't know if you know each other???
Just one other thing, didn't mean to sound dispassionate or cold about my ectopic in Feb and all the subsequent horrors I've been through, just didn't want to sound like a moany old cow.
I have been through a lot (like all the ladies here) and am only starting to come to terms with it now.
Keep in touch, love to hear your progress.
Karen
xox

hi karen
my consultant in the royal is dr traub so im not able to give you any info on dr mcclure but im sure they are as good as each other!!
I would love to meet up with you but im hardly ever in belfast (about 1hrs drive away) but i noticed that you are from co kildare, do you know a place called prosperous (probably spelt wrong!)
Why i ask is my sister ( who has just had a baby boy on 30th may!!) lives there and im am down pretty often so it might be an option!
if not im sure we can exchange emails and help each other out.
Please feel free to ask anything about the treatment as i have found this site really informative but unfortunately only found it after my 1st treatment.
Some background
im 28yrs dh 29, ttc 6 years with unexplained infertility. Have had 18mts on clomid, 1 ivf which resulted in 30 eggs, none of which fertilised so that is why we have to go for isci this time.
Found the whole experience really frustrating because i was so annoyed that they didnt keep some of my eggs for isci if the other failed... after all it would be alot less stress for dh to provide another sample rather than for me to supply more eggs, not to mention the cost!!!!
Anyway that is behind us now and we are about to start treatment as soon as af arrives (approx 7th july) and are having to go private again.
So im off now to open a bottle of wine and have my last alchol fueled weekend hopefully for a long, long time ! (9mts wuld be great!)
keep in touch
lv hayley

Hi Hayley,
Amazing that your sis lives in Prosperous. I'm about 30 minutes away in the village of Maynooth. Any time you're down, let me know. I can meet you there or somewhere nearby or you could even come to our home. You'd be very welcome!
My email address is karenmcmanus01@hotmail.com. It's yours to use whenever you need it.
Looks like you have been through the mill too with the whole pregnancy process.
I have a good friend (Dublin girl, I met on the Ectopic Pregnancy Boards) who is going through the mill of clomid and ttc-ing after two ectopics. She's finding it really difficult and it's playing havoc with her relationship with hubby.
I've been spared the horror of officially ttc. I've been told I am endangering my life (I'm in the upper end of high-risk for ladies who have had ectopics because one tube is completely blocked and the other is just partially open) and my doctors have warned me that to try and have a baby on my own could kill me. Wasn't happy with this news and I rebelled, Tim and I continuing as we always did. Then the doctors go and prove they are right when last month I was taken back into hospital with a suspected second EP. Tim has now put the foot down and won't run the risk anymore. No unprotected sex around ovulation! And that's his rule.
So I've been spared, unlike my friend Ali, using clomid and getting hCG injections to stimulate ovulation. It's sad, but I've frogleaped that process and I suppose me and Tim have to concentrate on enjoying one another until November when it all kicks off.
Hope haven't ranted on too long.
Tim (38) and I (35) have been together nearly four years after meeting in Paris, wanted a baby for two. Not married, hoping to soon (very small/private, not a white wedding...) I work in Dublin for a newspaper, Tim has his own business.
My family live in Newry, sister in Hollywood, Co Down!
Lovely to hear from you, keep in touch.
K
xox
