I wanted to introduce myself as I am completely new to all of this.
I am 30 years old and married to Mark.
I had an ectopic Dec 2003 at 10 weeks and was very poorly. I lost one of my ovaries and a tube.
Since then, we have not been able to concieve. I have recently had a Hycosy scan and Mark has had a sperm count. Luckily, we are both fine but just unable to "get it right".
We have been offered IVF and I am starting the Nasal spray on Boxing Day.
To be honest, I am absolutely terrified. Not only because of the drugs and injections (I'm not brilliant with needles - but I will make sure I cope) but also as I have no idea of what is going to happen - i.e moods, pain factor and the whole emotional situation. I am really scared.
I appriciate everyone is nervous to start with and that there are alot of people out there in far worse situations, but any advise would be really nice.
I look forward to hearing from you and would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas xxx
Everyone here has felt the same as you do now. The whole process of IVF is completely daunting. Please join us on the general forum. You will find loads of support, info and advise from some very wise women!
Try to take each day as it comes, one step at a time. Be prepared to do a lot of waiting too. Sometimes it takes a while to get the medication right, as we all respond differently. The needles are fine, really nothing to worry about, not painful and all over in a jiffy!!
Hi Chellejaya. Welcome to the site. Like Anna says, you will find lots of info and support on this site over on the general forum, there always seems to be someone out there who can answer any questions you have. I've just been through my first IVF and the best advice I can give you is to just take each day at a time and worry about the next day when it comes, that way you won't get overwhelmed. The injections are nowhere near as bad in reality as they are in your imagination, they don't hurt and you'll soon get used to them. As for moods and emotions etc they're bound to be up and down a bit, from what I'd read in books I expected to turn into a complete fruitcake but it was far from it!
