Hello
I'm new here and hoping to start my first (icsi) treatment in January, I was wondering if there was anyone on this site who has had a success on the first attempt.
My hubby and i have only enough money for one try at the moment and i'm terrified of how i will cope if it doesn't work.
My DH and I did not require ICSI, but had a successful IVF on the 2nd attempt...HOWEVER...my sister in law got pregnant on their first ICSI attempt and one of my coworkers did as well. Think positive...it happens!
Best of luck to you both

We were successful first time with ICSI. So yes, it does happen. I didnt have the 'perfect' cycle. Ended up with only 2 suitable embryos, both 3 cell (2 day transfer), but 1 was obviously good enough. I did acupuncture, which I personally think improved my chances, but Im sure a lot of it is down to luck.
Wish you all the best with your treatment and hope it does work first time for you.
Love kim

We were successful with our first attempt at IVF/ICSI and I understand your concerns on cost. We were surprised in the end because insurance accepted more than we actually thought.
My advice is to relax and to keep your relationship with hubby a positive one.
Best of luck to you!

I've had 2 ICSI cycles and got pg on both. It does happen 1st time for some people and I hope you're one of them.
My first ICSI we got a bank loan and joked that we had only paid off the cost of our daughter when she was 4. The 2nd ICSI we remortgaged our house, so I know where you're coming from with the money, can you not get treatment on the NHS? We couldnt as DH already had kids from his last relationship, but our doctor did provide all the drugs whiah made it cheaper.
Again good luck

hi Indie! I can completely relate to you. I'm from the Philippines and we don't have health insuarances here so everything has to come from our pockets. Luckily, our clinic gave a 30% mark down on IVF/ICSI treatment for a certain period of time and my doctor asked if we wanted to join. So, this is my first and I guess last IVF/ICSI and I am really praying hard that it would take.

I am currently on my 2ww. This is the first time they have done ICSI. Last time we did IVF and ZERO eggs fertilised from 8 eggs. I was absolutely devastated. This time we had 15 eggs at retrieval they attempted to fertilse 13 of those and we had 12, 8 cell embryos at transfer stage. So they transfered one (they are only allowed to transfer one here on government funding) and frozen the rest. We will wait and see what happens. So for us, so far ICSI has been better than IVF.
Good luck to you!

YES - I AM A FIRST TIME ICSI person We got 3 viable embryos from 12 eggs. The first one worked with a frozen cycle and there are 2 left! We are so please it worked first go. We are very greatful as we know the reality is much harder for others trying a number of times for success. But for now at least know it DOES HAPPEN, good luck!!! wishing lots of baby dust X x x
Both 30-Male Factor (Test.Cancer)
Aug 05 OHSS: transfer cancelled (3 embies frozen)

Our first ICSI was doubly successful and we have three year old twins as a result. We have minor male factor IF and I was 31 at the time of treatment (DH was 39). I only got 6 eggs, three of which fertilised to create Grade 1 embryos. We had two embryos put back and they both 'stuck'.
At the time we had the money for three attempts but now (we're looking to go again) we only have the money for one cycle. So I'm hoping that another cycle can be just as successful, although I am now over the magic age of 35.
Good luck with your treatment.
