Hi all, hope everyone had a nice day yesterday.
I tried very hard to ignore that little voice in my head which says things like "you haven't got the present you really want", "you would have been having your 12 week scan next week" etc etc. I am so lucky to have my family and especially DH who all love me very much, why can't I need to learn to be satisfied with that?
Sorry, that was supposed to be a cheery message! oops
Speak soon

Hi All!

Had a nice peaceful Christamas day at my mum's and have just got back.

I'm in a strange mood as I am trying not to get too optomistic about my current situation. My usual cycle is 24-28 days, but usually 25. The latest my period could have been due on a 28 day cycle would have been Christmas Eve. I am now at day 31 and no sign of AF! I am 2 days late on a "regular" cycle but up to a week late by my standards!

It is the first month after our IVF failure and I have heard that this can be a hyper-fertile month, but this month, he had a cold, then me, then him again, and the central heating broke down for 10 days! We only had sex twice!

I've also done absolutely everything wrong following the extreme self discipline of the previous couple of months I have drunk no water but have drunk copious quantities of alcohol and coffee, and I have replaced all major food groups with chocolate and biscuits and cake because i have been so depressed.

I am telling my self i cannot be pregnant because I don't want to get my hopes up, but I am literally NEVER late! I also don't feel the slightest bit pre-menstrual despite being on regular knicker watch! I can't get a pregnancy test because everywhere is shut and I haven't told DP because i don't want to put him where i am!

Has anyone else experienced a late period after a failed IVF? Is it just the drugs disrupting my cycle? Can anyone give me any clues before the shops reopen tomorrow as to whether i have a chance here? I'm going a bit mental!

Oh! Happy Christmas everybody!

Hi...

Kat, I hear you. I have a voice that's reminded me all day that today was my edd. I tried to keep busy and have people over but the voice is still there. Tomorrow it will be gone.

Amfy, I really really hope you're pg and that you were super fertile but I've always had late AFs after failed cycles. Every single time. That's not to say you shouldn't keep your hopes up. Law of Averages says that if it was this month that you relaxed and forgot all about nutrition etc. then it's worked! Good luck.

It's not been the year any of us who have frequented this thread have wanted has it? Except BigJ of course and Caroline, Alette, Joy and Debbie who moved to the pg side.... :)

Here's to a better 2006....

Hi everyone
happy belated Christmas...sorry to have not posted...i was going through a low phase...I went into baby gap to buy a friend some baby clothes. She had been ttc 5 yrs and unexplained infertility when she got preg. I feel really close and supportive of her joy at have-ing this wee 8 month old baby. It was his 1st Christmas so i decided to buy a pressie...but broke down in baby gap crying. It just came out of no where! Am feeling okay now but just wanted some time off the boards...

So much to catch up on...
Lisa - it's good that you guys talked out your feelings i hope you both start 2006 on a happier note. :)

Kat- Glad you managed to have some joy at Christmas..it's so difficult when your heart is broken. It shows how strong you are. :)

Amfy- poor you late AF is a nightmare...am I o0r am not i ? ...My AF after my tmt was always late..hope this is a surprise preg for you!

Anna- How ya doing ? ...when do you start progesterone? And then tmt starts on day 3 of this AF or next one?

debra- yeah you are so right...here's to a better 2006 for us all.

BFP J how's the morning sickness? Hope you had a good christmas!

Hi and hugs to everyone else...

I was wondering if we could do a monthly timetalble of events for each of us ....it helps me know what's coming up for everyone? only if that's okay with everyone...
Lovuig hugs and a Happy New Year...
love jen

Thanks Debra. In an odd way it does help me that you say you've always been late.

I wouldn't have expected to be pregnant this month because it just hasn't been that kind of month! However, it was getting hard not to run away with the idea when its been getting so late (still no sign by the way, despite leaping up and down like a demented lunatic at Villa Park as Villa won 4-0 this evening - I was sure that would have set it off).

Anyway - I'll test in the morning, and it'll probably be negative, and I'm feeling a bit more settled and prepared for that now.

(Anyway - in terms of my deals with God, I don't think he would send me a 4-0 Villa win, and a baby in the same week!)

Hi everyone,
It's been an exhausting 3 days with such emotional extremes I just need a day to turn off my brain and think of nothing at all. I managed to keep myself from crying or being to jealous as I watched the whole family oooo and awww over my undeniably adorable nephew. I think my optimism over this upcoming donor egg cycle kept me in check. I kept telling myself, "This will be us next year." Sometimes I think i'll never make it if this fails but I have to take 1 day at a time. There sure is a fine line between optimism and obsession. I too always have late cycles after ART's. In my case I knew it was impossible because of our extreme male factor so I didn't stress it. Speaking of the male...hehe...he's been great. Very apologetic and truly sorry. Vows never again. I can live with that. UNLESS it does! Amfy, hoping you a BFP. May we all have a truly happy and reproductively successful New Year!

Ah well! No Christmas miracle! AF arrived at about 5am this morning. I think i just needed someone to tell me it was normal to be late and there it'd be.

Not too disappointed because I wouldn't have expected it and because I would have been quite worried about a pregancy built on the foundations of lots of heavy (christmas) lifting, lots of alcohol and rubbish food and 3 nasty colds!

Lets see what the New Year brings!

Anna - 49 days!! you poor thing, how irritating.
Went back to work today (boo, hiss!), nearly sent everyone home at 4.30 it was so quiet.
Anyone know anything about testicular biopsy? Barcelona say they want to do one on DH, haven't told him yet though (is that naughty?) - that's if we go back there. Haven't really decided properly but have a feeling will try again there even if it bankrupts me or sends me round the twist. I must be mad.

Kat, good to see you so positive. Sorry I don't know anything about biopsy. Will you go back to Barcelona? Last time I spoke to Julie at QM she mentioned that quite a few ladies had gone over for tmt, and how they supported them with scans and stuff. If our next tmt doesn't work it maybe something we would consider

Anyway have put your name on the list! (Hope you don't mind)

Anna,
You can add me to your list. We will be flying to Las Vegas for Embryo Transfer on about January 20th depending on when our donor is ready for egg retrieval.
