Hi Girlies

My God, this site is having a real quick turnover of people, hardly recognise any names, even though I was on here a couple of weeks ago!

Well, we had our first ICSI in May (male factor infertility, and the test date, 16th May, showed that I'd had a bio-chemical, where the embryo implants but then stops growing. Then had a horrible horrible bleed the same day and spent the night in hospital. Obviously, we were totally gutted but 2 weeks later went on holiday. I was about 10 days late and went to my GP on Monday and.... yep, positive pg test. (Have done another 3 since!). Can't quite believe it and I know its very very early (according to my GP I am 6 wks and 3 days becuase they backdate to the first day of your last af don't they?)

Please God, it will progress well, but it just shows that strange and lovely things can happen. It also brings me back to Tamoxifen!

For anyone who didn't see any of my other postings on this subject (probably because of the bloody hackers bringing the site down!, my DH has (or had?) a low sperm count 1.2 million instead of 20 million. He also had poor motility - 13%. The consultant started him on Tamoxifen which as most of you will probably know is a drug used for breast cancer patients. On the day of egg collection when DH went to do his "thing" at Kings college, it had risen to 19 million. Obviously, when it came to it, our result was still a no-go (although we had come close with the biochemical). But then, it must have stayed high for me to become pg naturally. The other thing my DH said was that he did feel a lot of the prob may have been psychological in that all the time he knew he couldn't father a child without help, it knocked him, but once he felt the responsiblity was taken away from him, in the form of the ICSI, he felt much more relaxed.

For anyone who has male factor infertility, it may well be worth speaking to your consultant about Tamoxifen. My DH also had Selenium with A,C & E every day and lots of bananas (v. high in potassium).

With loads of luck from a
v. v. v. happy but nervous

Rachel
xxxxxx
x
