Oh no! think it must have been a chemical pregnancy

Post by Natalie Anne »

I got a positive hpt, a first HCG result 14 days post ET of 45 and one 16 days post ET of 78 but i did another hpt this morning and it's completely negative!

am assuming it was a chemical pregnancy. had no PMT symptoms and plenty of pregnancy symptoms but assume i am going to start bleeding any second.

my nurse is off for Xmas. managed to speak to my consultant's secretary and she'd trying to contact my nurse or my consultant.

have had to come into work as i was the only one due in today so am sat here all on my own, with a ton of work to do, waiting for the phone to ring.

this was my 4th attempt and i can't believe it's another negative.

haven't even cried yet - think i'm still in shock (or denial). any words of comfort would be much appreciated.

Natalie,

So sorry to hear your news. I have been there when the count hasn't been increasing as much as it should have and unfortunatley in my case I started bleeding a few days later.

I'm so sorry and sending you loving thoughts and hugs.

Take care. :(

i did a hpt at 14 days and had a faint line , then another at 15 days had a bright blue cross, still didnt believe it though to be honest cos of having a chemical pregnancy. have done 4 tests in total now and have 1st scan on 4th jan but still am unsure. i must say though that if you have had no bleeding and did have a positve i am surprised as the clinic told me that altough a neg could turn positvie it is very unusual to have a pos turn to a neg....wishing you all good luck and hope it is a dodgy pee stick....

Natalie - I am so sorry to hear your news. Nothing worse than getting a positive and then it changes to negative.

have now had confirmation from my clinic that it's negative as my third blood test came back with an hcg level of just 5

we'll just have to get over this and start again.

Hi Natalie,
Really sorry to read your news- I know how devastating this must feel. Take some time to relax and look after yourself and to have a much deserved rest- the whole process is exhausting in ever which way.
Take care,

JP - congrats on your test - try not to worry too much. Once we have a positive result we then have to wait for confirmation by scan at 6 or 8 weeks (or both) to check that the sac does indeed contain an embryo and then to check that the heart bursts into life. It's like having another 2ww unfortunately and there's no way of knowing yet whether the pregnancy is normal, chemical or ectopic. However, remember that most pregnancies will be fine and sometimes it's worse for us because we know more about the rare things that can go wrong than other people. You are in the same position as any normally fertile woman who has just done a test so enjoy it - feel ecstatic at your news and think pregnant because you are. Try not to worry and just let nature do her thing. Best of luck and congratulations,

Cherylxxx

Jp - let us know how things go - why not pop over to 'pregnant after treatment' side and start your own new thread or join 1st tri friends. You don't need to have a scan to move over - I moved over the minute I got my positive result. Good luck with it all, if you don't fancy moving over I'll pop on here and say hello though maybe we should start a new thread so Natalie doesn't have to keep seeing her thread pop up as it might be painful for her.

Natalie - so sorry about your outcome and I'm sorry we seem to have hijacked the thread here a little but I can understand why jp needed some reassurance - its so scary to know the things that can potentially go wrong but at the same time it is important that we are aware of them and supporting each other through the tough times. Its so hard the not knowing and all the risks but I guess we just have to trust in nature and know that when the time is right then things will happen as they should.
Look after yourself, I hope you feel as positive as you can at this very difficult time.
Much love
Cherylxxx
