Hi Ladies, I promised myself I wouldn't post until Af had arrived but I have been reading the stories and couldn't help myself.

Goodness, I cried as I read your story Bev, what an amazing person you are to go through all that and come out the other side feeling positive enough to do IVF. You put a lot of things in my life into perspective. Thank you for sharing your story.

Jen, Kat, Lara and other lovely ladies, thank you for thinking of me. I am still waiting. I had a tiny show yesterday and got excited, made an appointment for Monday at the clinic, but today ...nothing. I could howl. Anyway, I am going to stay POSITIVE! There are loads of ladies out there going through much more difficult times then me.

Hi to Jane, good to meet you. Good luck with your tmt.

It's the weekend so lots to do. I've got friends coming to stay so must go and do all the bed changing and shopping etc...

Hi ladies, it is quiet here today isn't it. I'm fed up 'cos a very dear friend of mine was due to visit tonight and can't because of the stupid train strike. She lives in Switzerland and we only see each other now and again. Poo :( :(

Kat, my weekend has been very similar to yours, washing, ironing and cleaning. But have to admit the place looks great!

Jeni, please don't think I stayed off the boards due to people asking after AF. On the contrary, knowing you lot are out there keeps me sane!! (PS definate rumblings today, fingers crossed for tomorrow)

Hi Friends,

Quiet weekend at home here too. Cool icons Jen!
Anna - I hope your "rumblings" produce results soon.
I think I'm having YOUR period. Geeze! I've been bleeding for nearly three weeks. Not heavy, but just steady flow. Really taking its toll on our sex life.
Not too positive about this round so far. The bleeding worries me, as this was the way it was with my round that was cancelled last summer. HMMM?

Do any of the rest of you ever bleed during down reg? (birth control pills or "sniffing" I think is the same thing) My doc/nurses say it's nothing to worry about.

Hello All,

This weekend has been a boring one for myself and dh. We start our spring semester classes tomorrow, so we are busy prepping.

Randa: I have never bled during the BC pills. AF just finished, this was after the failed IVF. It was a very heavy AF ! I'm wondering if that is normal.......... heavy AF after a failed IVF attempt. :?: I just started the BC pills today.

Take care All,
Tammy

Hi everyone
Randa - I have never had any bleeding during the sniffing or bc pills either - did they tell you why it happened last time?

I spent the afternoon tidying the spare room and feeling very pleased with myself - it tends to be where everything gets dumped out of the way so it just piles up....
DH then came home from mountain biking very wet and covered in mud and presented me with a large bag of also very wet & muddy stuff for washing - don't you just love men?!

Speak tomorrow

Tammy,
Yes, all my periods after IVF were heavier than normal. However, don't rule out the possibility of a problem if it gets out of hand. I'd hate for you to not call the doc and then turns out you are hemorrhaging.

We have our protocol meeting tomorrow morning. I'll ask again why I'm bleeding. They told me when it happened before, but that was months ago and I forgot what they said.

Kat, I know what you mean with the sweaty, stinky, muddy sports clothes our guys bring home - yuk! My dh plays serious baseball and it rains here often - you get the picture. He is very superstitious and has to have his uniform washed with special "rules." Complete with a specific way it has to be hung on the "special" (yes, one specific) hanger (always with his number out). Nutty, huh? There's more, but I'll stop there.

Hi,

Randa, I just read in the Sunday papers about a 23 year old student who had terrible stomach pains and then gave birth, not having realised she was pregnant. She bled all the way through the pregnancy. It seems anything can happen! Although how you could fit a baby in there and still be able to do your jeans up (which she said she could) I really will never ever understand! She thought the heartburn was due to nights in the student bar!

Good luck, all

HI all..Happy Monday! :?

Big j- we are all thinking of you and wishing you well on your next scan tomorrow...You must be so glad getting many scans, does it keep some of the worry at bay? sending sweetie loads of sticky dust ( tho I know she's hanging in there) and hopefully by 10wks you will feel better and enjoy walking the dogs again...MUSH!!! Image

Randa...goodness 3wks of bleeding..poor you that is so draining. I never bled during down reg except when AF was due. But have had many weeks bleeding in late 20's due to endo. Hope tomorrow at clinic you get some support and find out you can still carry on with tmt. Why was it canc last time??? just becauase of heavy bleeding???

Kat- my DF mountain bikes as well...it's a nightmare for getting small rocks stuck in the washing machine
How was work today? mine was bearable...ever wished you could have a year out!!!!( and still get paid obviously  ) Mmmn that would be good!!!!

Anna- Good to hear about the rumbilings! I guess you didn't contact the clinic then...hope that means she is on her way! Pity you missed out on seeing your friend....i hate when that happens especially when i have been looking forward to catching up with all the gossip. Hope you can see her soon.

Lara- I can't believe that, it's so amazing. I was size 10 and rapidly moved into size 12 preggy jeans by 8 wks preg. Some people tho do not put on much...i blew up like a ballon with the hormones. the same with fertility drugs too!

tammy - i am the same ...all my Af's after tmt were heavier...It's cause you build a thicker lining with the fertility drugs.

catch ya all later girls

Hi all

Julie - nice to hear from you & glad everything is going well. Feeling so sick must be a really good sign surely.

Jen - does your DF make videos of him & his friends mountain biking and turn them into DVDs with music and titles and everything? DH broke his neck 3 years ago but it doesn't seem to have slowed him down much from the footage I've seen. I think I'd rather he played baseball ...

Take care all
Kat xx

PS I couldn't do my jeans up at a week post transfer because of the drugs.....still, I'd rather be fat and pregnant than thin and not pregnant any day obviously

Hi Gang,
Had a good protocol review today with the nurse. She said my bleeding is actually a good thing (thins out the uterine lining, they want it nice and thin before we start the stims anyway). I was so happy with that answer that I forgot to ask her why I'm bleeding. duh.
I
Learning some things about life on the other side of EC...for instance: didn't know that the progesterone drug after EC is taken as an injection in the bum! And I have to take it for the first 10 weeks of pregnancy (if we get that far). EVERY DAY! Geeze! My butt is going to be very sore!

BigJ, are you getting these injections of progesterone? By the way, I LOVE your idea about the pub! I want to see you pregnant, even if it's just a photo! Please put a picture up when you get big!

Lara, what an amazing story. I remember when I was a kid and we lived on the Native American Indian Reservation for a few years, that happened once to a high school student. She had the baby in the toilet thinking she was having a bm! They saved it and both were okay. I think these are large people to begin with (ones that don't know they are pregnant until birth) and that's why they can't tell they are carrying a child.

Jen, I was cancelled in round #2 (not my last round) because of only 2 or 3 follicles stimulating. The most eggs they felt we would get would be 1.

Now that we are on the subject, I think I might know of a problem that I caused on that round - my Lupron was expired. I know this because I almost made the same mistake this time. What happened was that I had so much left over from round #1 that I just assumed it was okay to reuse it. The bottle is so tiny and I didn't notice the "discard date" on the side. I had to start fresh with round #3 because we had used it all up after #1 & #2. Now we are starting round #4 and .... I have some leftovers again (see, every other round). I was inventorying my drugs (have leftovers of Repronex and Follistim too) so I don't over buy.... and I noticed the discard date on the Lupron. I feel so stupid. All the other drugs have discard dates and I knew this and I've paid attention to them, why I thought the Lupron was different I don't know. Anyway, that probably highly contributed to our cancellation. Lupron is the drug I take the most often of all the drugs in the cycle. Pretty significant impact I would think.
Sorry to ramble, but I thought maybe someone else might avoid this rookie mistake if I bring it up. WATCH THOSE EXPIRATION DATES!

Good morning All!

Randa: Yes, the progesterone shots do go in the bum. Since my DH and I both teach at a local college, my DH had a Nursing Instructor teach him how to give the intramuscular shots. What you may want to do is take an old pair of panties to your doctor's office and have the nurse draw a circle on each side to show where the shots should be administered. Then go home and cut out the fabric to make 2 holes in the panties. Every night I would put on the panties and the DH did not have to stress about the "correct" shot location. Make sure that you relax the leg muscle on the side of the intented shot. It makes a big difference if your muscle is relaxed! You may want to warm the progesterone oil also. I would draw up the oil into the syringe and then hold the syringe in my hand to warm the oil. Good luck!

I am so ready to go to my appointment on 1/17 ! I am not a patient person.

Take care All!
