Clomid vs. IVF FSH question

My wife was only able to make one follicle a cycle when she was taking clomid 50mg pills when we were doing IUI. Obviously, she's going to be on stronger medication for IVF. But does anyone have any experience where there weren't many follicles with clomid, but the IVF FSH meds worked better? I'm really worried that she's not going to produce many follicles for our IVF cycles.

I have had a natural perg with clomid and when i went for ivf had no response to the drugs the first time. The docs then tailored my drugs and when i tried again i had a better response and went the full way to ET
( embryo transfer) with 2 embies in DEc 05. Unfortunetly neither of they stayed. But hubby and i will try again later in the year...good luck with your cycle....

I was on the clomid for sometime, but had no positive results and all the scans showed that I was not producing follicles. It was frustrating and I was in a lot of pain with very heavy bleeds whilst I was on the clomid.

We then found out that my husband also has a low sperm count and then we were recommended for IVF. With the IVF stimulatants and FSH medication, I was able to produce 5 follicles and 4 eggs were collected. Only 2 eggs fertilised but they did not survive unfortunately.. The consultant has said that I will need to go on a higher dosage of stimulatants the next cycle (Feb / Mar 06).

So.. for me the IVF medication produced follicles even though Clomid did not. I wish both of you all the very best for the future.
