Hi Pat,

This is my first time at IVF and I have paid £1,700 for the treatment and £977 for the drugs. Even though I have paid for treatment I am a patient at an NHS hospital so they usually come out cheaper than private hospitals (I think because they are non-profit making organisations).

Hope this helps

Dolly

Hi,

I'm based in the NorthWEst and paid £2700 at a clinic that does NHS and self funded, while I was waiting for my NHS turn to arrive. I had a second opinion at a different clinic that only does self funded (but had better statistics) and the cost there was £3500.

DOn't be tempted to go on cost, you must look closely at the clinic, in terms of their procedures, drugs used, success rates, location and how comfortable you feel with them.

If you decide on a clinic, it's a good idea to get yourself on your local NHS waiting list, and then go down the self funded route in the meantime. Keeps your options open!
Sally

Hi Pat. Our treatment this time was £2750 for ICSI, plus £300 for one years storage of 3 embryos, plus £770 for the drugs.

Horrible isnt it? Its hard to keep finding such huge chunks of money and obviously it's the cash that limits how many times you can do it, and not to forget there are some poor couples who wont be able to have even one try, which makes me so mad!

Better go, I'm ranting. Best of luck - jo. X

I am at Kings College Hospital, London and am starting my first ICSI cycle in Aug. We have paid £1780 for the treatment and a further £360 for 12 months storage of any surplus eggs. My drugs have been supplied by my local GP and have only cost me the NHS prescription charge (which is so lucky as I am on max doses of everything).

Can't comment yet on the actual treatment but so far they have been absolutely brilliant in everything they have done (I have heard lots of good things from other ex-patients too!)

Love to all

Lorraine G

Hi Girls,
I am in the US. You girls think yourself lucky. I did IUI once which cost $2950 (app $1800) and then IVF which cost $9500 (app £5900), this was not including drugs which thankfully my medical insurance paid for. I think this is the average cost in the US, some clinics are cheaper, others more expensive. Some people are lucky and their medical insurance pays for some go's at IUI and also a few attempts at IVF but this depends on which state you live in and your employer.
I am hoping to move to the UK within the next year and then hopefully can take advantage of the cheaper cost.

Baby dust to all!

Missy
