Hi everybody
First of all let me tell you a bit about my hubby and me,
Im 25 and my hubby is 28 we have been trying for a baby for 4yrs
we have been married for 2yrs in August.
We started having investagations Sep 2001 at our local Hosp which is Barnsley they couldnt find anything wrong so discharged us telling us to wait until I turned 25.
Any way to cut a long story short we are now under The Jessop Wing Sheffield Teaching Hospital,I had a Laparoscopy done in Feb which they found minimal endometriosis and my hubby's sperm is ok so we decided to start SIUI which I started last Mon the injections werent to bad I think he enjoyed injecting me! Any way I went on Sat for my bloods ans scan doing and was told we couldnt carry on with SIUI I had too many follicles so after having a cry we decided to switch to IVF so on Mon I had my final injection and had my egg collection done yesterday it was painful but aint gas&air brill! thankfully they got 13eggs and hubby's sperm was above average so we went away happy but nervous Im very sore and Ive been told to drink lots of water because I could get OHSS.Ive had a phone call this morning and 10 eggs have fertilised which is brill we are just waiting til tomorrow when they will tell us how many have turned into embryos so its fingers crossed, sorry about going on and on and on.......
please can other people tell me there experiences
Good Luck to everybody
Gem x
hi gem, wow 10 eggs lucky you! i have just been through my first attempt at ivf and im sad to say it failed i had 5 eggs 3 fertilized froze one and had 2 transfered, i wish i could do it again straight away, the hospital have said i have to wait until i have had 3 cycles before i can continue, i am very weary of putting the one frozen embryo back as i have been told fresh embryos have a better success rate.. hope all goes well for you let us know how you get on take care bel x
Hi Gem, 10 eggs is fantastic - just going through our second attempt at ICSI at present and on day 6 of two week wait. We had 7 eggs and 5 fertilised so the ratio is really good, you should get plenty.

We have had two put back and have 3 frozen.

You'll be so glad you found this site, like we all are - you'll soon be addicted! Whatever experience you have, there'll always be someone who's been there, don't worry.

Keep us up to date with your treatment wont you & best of luck.

Love - Jo. xxxx

Thanks for replying
Its nice to know Im not on my own.
We are also thinking about freezing if we have good embryos Im just praying it will work!!.
Let you all know tomorrow how many embryos we have they are doing the ET on Sat hopefully.
Hope the 2ww go quick and ok have you got to change your life style in any way? have you stopped drinking?, I gave up drinking a month ago as the nurse said it could help to stop drinking before and during treatment so I thought Id give it a go as it couldnt hurt!
Keep you posted

Love Gem xx
Hi Gem
I think your chances sound really good.
1 - you're really young
2. YOu got good sperm to use (bet your hubbie was chuffed with "above average"!
3. 10 is alot to play with

Even if it doesnt work this time you'll be able to freeze alot I should think

I was told

No (or little) drinking
No smoking
small asprin daily and folic _VERY IMPORTANT!
keep reasonable fit (I think this just helps the mental state more than anything)
Cut back on caffene
We've been drinking chinese tea -yuk!
Have had reflexology (just very relaxing)

and thats about it I think - I dont know if any of its worked yet but worth a go.

Am on 2ww now - am 1st time IVF/ ICSI - so not an expert - but I can tell you that et was a doddle for me - and AMAZING if they let you see it on a camera. The hard bit (and to be honest I'm finding it REALLY hard) is the 2ww.

Good luck!!

PS - look on the "pg after tmt" thread theres some good tips there too

Cazx
Hi Gem and welcome to our gang !
My history :
Me 36
DH 46
Vasectomy reversal -low motility
Me FSH 16
2 X Failed ICSI
1st time 5 eggs 3 fertilised 2 put back
2nd time 4 eggs 3 fertilised 2 put back
Changed clinics
Awaited a short Protocol But decided after 2 High FSH levels we are going for Donor eggs and my second cousin is going to give me a batch of hers, we have our fist consultation 24th July hopefully it will all take place in Oct/Nov

It sounds as if you have a good healthy Body and I dont see why not it shouldnt work , but it is tough when it dosnt! I would freeze what you can and at least you will have them there in case , after all sometimes the first go is like a practice run! heres wishing you all the best for your TMT and I hope that the 2ww doesnt drag.
