Hi,

I just wanted to let those of you who were interetsed the outcome of our appointment today.
My husbands test results show that he has 1 healthy fully working sperm, so we are both feeling a bit better about things now. Last week we came away from our consultation thinking that was it.....but god was looking down on us....thank you.

My husband and I have gone private for the moment and he made me laugh this week.........

.... so I thought |I would share it with you all as we are trying to look at things in a positive way and try and find the funny side to things........

...he had to go to the hospital and provide a sperm sample (to which we got the results this morning).

We were in the car having left the hospital, still in shock and worrying about the results. It had been completely silent for about 5 minutes when my husband comes out with....'god that was the most expensive w**k I have ever had.....but well worth it'!!!!!!

We both couldn't stop laughing.

Anyway, we found out this morning as I mentioned earlier that there was 1 healthy sperm and a few 'twinklers'.......which is better than nothing.

The consulatnt went through the next process aswell as the COST.......on that note I need to make a phone call to mummy and daddy and hope they are feeling generous!!!

The blood tests alone are going to set us back £500 and the cost of ICSI is approc £3500.00 with all medication etc.

It isn't cheap.....but what is frustratiing is we can't get this treatment funded by the NHS for everyone with fertility problems and then there are young girls who don't know what contraception is and walk around with 4 kids and not a penny to rub together so they take fininacial credit from the social ............MAD.....

....aplogies just had to let off a little steam.

Thanks to all in anticipation for your comments, support and words of encouragement.

Luc
xx
Hi Lucy ..... you made me laugh - I think there's always a lot to laugh at in MOST situations!!!

So glad your husbands test was good news. My DH also has dodgy sperm and that's why we're doing ICSI - only 1 per egg required so dont worry, although the costs are awful.

Know what you mean about all the 16 year old children with children you see around. Can't figure it out can you?! My DH and I laugh now when we think about how careful we were not to get PG when we first got married - you think that even looking at each other is going to get you pg when you first start out - how wrong we were!!!!

Great news for you both - hope things carry on improving for you.

Lots of Love - Jo. XXXX
HI Luc
I feel your pain!! We are just going through first ICSI - my dh has severe male factor. The cost IS terrifying.
Wasnt sure what "1 healthy sperm" meant, does that mean that there are a few in his ejaculate (Nice word!)?/ IF so - you are perfect candidates for ICSI. As Jo says it only takes one!!

Cazx

ps - we had non in ejaculate and dh has to have them extracted surgically via TESE - quite sore!
Hi,

Glad the note made you laugh!

My husband produced approx 2 million sperm, however only 1 was actually healthy from the complete 2 million.
Apparently 70% of ALL mens sperm is unhealthy anyway.

So he had 1 sperm that was fab, which is better than nothing.
He did have plenty of sperm that were 'twitching', basically they wiggled about but didn't swim. So they are classed as unhealthy if you like.

The doctors can use these if necessary but wqould rather have healthy ones.

They want my husband to do a few sperm samples so that they can try and get as many healthy ones as possible and they will then freeze them.

I hope that makes more sense?

The consultant said last week to us that he had not come accross a case like this to date........so I am hoping there are others out there with success stories

What are yours?

Luc
X
