7 WEEK SCAN WORRYING NEWS - HELP!!

Post by Dizzie »

Hi ladies,

I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has had something similar. Went for my 7 week scan on Thursday, but hospital didn't see what they expected. Thought I was having another ectopic and sent me to my local hospital to get laparoscopy. Got a more thorough scan at my own hospital yesterday, and radiographer saw two sacs in the right place, but thought they were similar in size to a 5-6 week pregnancy. Saw doctors and consultants all day and they're undecided as to what will happen. Said it could go either way, but confident it looks like a normal early pregnancy. My hcg level on Thursday was only 2300, but they think it's a wee bit low, but still viable. Got another scan and blood test on Tuesday, but just wondered if anyone else has had similar experience and what outcome was?

Trying hard not to worry, but would greatly appreciate news from someone who's got advice/experience to share.
Dizzie x

Hi Dizzie

Hugs to you sweetie, this must be a worry for you...at 7wks i went through a similar experience but they found nothing in the womb...mine was ectopic :( The fact they have seen 2 sacs sounds promising, and if your hcg is doubling then that again backs this up...

I hope all will be well when you go to the scan on tuesday. I am sending lots of PMA to you to Keep your hopes up. :)
Loving hugs jen

Thank you ladies for all your kind replies. I've done some reading and apparently hcg levels vary greatly from person to person. I also found a couple of stories of ladies who went through IVF and didn't see anything at first scan, but still went on to have viable pregnancies. I guess you just can't tell and we're all different.

Well, I'm trying to keep optimistic, but at same time trying not to get hopes too high. Will post again on Tuesday when I come back from hospital.

Thank you all so much again. I really appreciate you all being there for me.

Take care and bye for now.

I've been off the internet and just saw your note today. I will be praying for you. It is so early in the pregnancy it's hard for docs to make good predictions. If hcg is doubling well that is a good prognositic factor.

Huge hugs and hope today's scan went well.

Hi Dizzie

How are you doing. Similar story - didn´t we test the same day too? I had a scan a 6 weeks where they picked up one embryo with heartbeat and a dubious second. Went back the next week second twin 1 measured 12.7mm but twin 2 with a heart beat was a week behind measuring a mere 2.8mm. I`m having another scan next week to see what is happening. My gyn/ob was not impressed and in fact scared the living day lights out of me. Won`t go into details but mainly due to the fact that I have a bicornate uterus so he doesn`t think there`ll be enough room for 2. Anyway I think the best thing we can do is hang on in there and try not to worry to much. I`m doing a bit of research at the mo so if I find anything will let you know.

Take care
