Wednesday EC Postponed - Oestrogen Levels too high

Post by Dawn Blake »

Just had the call from hospital to say my bloods have come back and are too high at 27,000 for collection to go ahead on Wednesday, they need to bring them down to around 10,000 - just got myself all geared up for it and everything - arghhhhh!

Scan had good news though, lots and lots of follies, so hopefully this is a good omen, and will stop crying in a minute.

Never had this before, but Friday will hopefully be the day now, see how the tests come back from Wednesdays tests.

Does this happen a lot?

D x
Me 34, DH, 37. Married for 11 years, ttc for 6+, failed 4 x fresh IVF tmts. 5th attempt at Lister Hospital gave us Megan on 5 April 2004 with a very straightforward pregnancy and labour. Attempt number 6 to start hopefully September 2007!

Hi Dawn

Bummer for that - you get all pysched up for a certain day don't you. You seem to have lots of follies though so stay with that PMA.
On my first go with IVF I never had any blood tests but they did have to delay EC by a few days as they said they wanted my follies to grow a bit more. The good thing is that they are monitoring you and will only take the eggs out when they are good and ready to be got.

Best of luck with.
Jen xx

Hi Dawn, hope you've stopped crying now! This IVF thing is just a mass of little highs and lows and most people get delayed with something or other during their treatment - its hugely disappointing though when you're all set up for something to happen and then get sent home!!

Follies sound like they're coming along brilliantly though - friday will soon be here and a little delay won't bother you once you're up & running again.

PMA PMA PMA PMA PMA PMA PMA PMA!!!!!!

lots of love - Jo. Hi Dawn - its such a nightmare isn't it?! We try to keep some feeling of control by knowing dates and then they change them round again. Something similar happened to me last time (although ARGC don't actually commit to giving you a date til you do the late night injection) - my last couple of days I was just "coasting" with no more drugs. I'm sure its a good sign, and a sign that the accupuncture is making you respond to the drugs better.

Good luck!

Alison x

I've stopped crying now! Thank you for your messages, you're right,it really is a bummer when you are so focused on a date only to have it changed, DH is all positive about it though, as I have never been monitored so closely before re bloods etc.

Alison - you could be right, the old acupuncture thing is doing it's business! Was supposed to be going to see him tonight (before original ec) but will see him in Bromley on Thursday evening instead now, hey, it might help! How's things with you now, where are you at?

Working from home today, does anyone else feel like they just want to shut themselves in a cupboard until this whole thing is over? All the inane office banter and noise is driving me insane, and the tears keep coming completely out of nowhere (I will blame the hormones!).

Oh this is so much fun!

D x
