Me and DH married in 2003 and have always known we would need icsi as DH has v low sperm count, so we have waited on nhs waiting list ever since we got married, and have now reached the top Yay!
Im on 5th day down reg taking Buseralin.
We are at Chelse and Westminster Hos in London and we are really struggling with the injections, as we are both terrified of needles and we cant find the least painful way of doing them, any advice?
We are both very nervouse and in need of talking to people who understand what we are going through.

Hi Charlie

How many goes will you get on the NHS?

I have just finished my 1st course of NHS funded IVf, we only get 1 go then we have to pay ourselves.

The whole process is not too bad,yes the injections take a bit getting used too but just think it will all be worth it!

If you are struggling with them talk to your doctor i'm sure they will understand!

If you need to ask any questions we are all here to help and are going through the same treatment and emotions.

GOOD LUCK!!

Hi Charlie

I had 16 eggs retrieved with 15 being mature enough to use.

They did 9 ICSI and 6 IVF ,7 took with ICSI and 5 took with IVF.

So had 12 embryos they decided to put the best 2 back in which happening to come from the ICSI attempt.

We luckily had 7 that were suitable for freezing.

So will be doing FET next time if this doesn't work.

I am under the John Ratcliffe in Oxford and the staff there are lovely,i must admit that you tend to see someone different there all the time but they are still all really caring.

My advice is to go into the treatment with a relaxed approach and not to pin all hopes on the 1st attempt as you put too much pressure on yourselves ,if you are lucky enough to get frozen embryos the whole procedure is a lot easier and a fraction of the cost of IVF.

Take Care

Hi charlie,
I'm Hayley 23 dh 34 we've been ttc 4 years. The only hope for us as well is ICSI. My dh has a very low sperm count too. I started my first injections like you 5 jan, so been on them 16 days now. I didn't take too well to them either. I give them myself about 6 in the evening, I was that bad I had to sike myself up with the injection in my hand round about 5.15. listen the best way to give yourself the injection is dont think about it dont even hesitate, just do it straight away. It's less painfully aswell when you don't think about it. you'll get use to it.Have you had any mood swings yet. I thought I was doning really well. I didnt feel any different for over a week. Then they kicked in. It's not that bad its just like bad PMT. I gof AF yesterday so i go to the hospital 7.30 am tomorrow for a blood test and scan. Think I start the second set of injections as well tomorrow. Well thats all I can tell you so far. But if you have any questions just as. we'll go through it toghether if you want. stay in touch.

Where are you having treatment? I'm at st mary's manchester.

Keep in touch, let me no how your getting on, its my 1st time aswell.

Are you due on your period? well i started my injections on the 5th and i was due on the 19th. but i did have slight period pain like you all the way through the injections. I phoned the hospital cause i was worried, but they said it was normal. I'll tell you what i did get and i dont now if it is the same for everyone. It sounds daft lol. My nipples have never been so sore in all my life. they were killing me. thats the only thing i can say i noticed different. soon as i come on they went normal.
im having treatment at st mary's manchester. i find the nurses are really nice, but they dont tell you much. they dont tell you whats to come next. thats why i find this site really helpful.
remember. try and do what i said tonight. dont think about the neddle just put it straight in. you'll suprise yourself. Im the biggest baby me. if i can do it im sure anyone else can.
Im dreading egg collection me. i think it's about ten days before i go. i'll let you no how i go on. stay in touch before then. if you want to talk. im here. bet we find me and you have got loads in common. there's not many people our age on hear. mind you not alot of people want children now days at our our age

anyway see you later

no I grew up in southport near liverpool. met my husband and moved up to blackpool about 6 years ago. it's a nightmere for me cause the hospital in manchester is about 45 miles away.So ive got to get up about 5 in the morning to get ready and get there for 7.30am. Ithink ive got to do that everyday untill EC.I'm working tonight till about 12 aswell! do you no anything about the first scan. they haven't told me that much. Im nearly sure it's a internal scan i hope not. I no we've got to do alot worst but it mustn't be very nice went your on your monthlys.

oh yes im on burserlin. not sure how to spell it though

I have been told that all our scans are internal, no not very nice when on monthlys.

But that is the first hurdle i quess, many more not nice things to come.

Do many of your friends have children?
What job do you do that keeps you out till 12, should you not be taking it easy at the mo?

When did you get married?

Oh god. not looking forward to that tomorow.

I work nights I am a singer, Living in blackpool i work in all the hotels, its not that bad tonight it's only round the corner. But i really dont feel like it tonight. Ive got pains in my stomach. only a couple more weeks and im taking time off while i let those little embreos settle in HOPEFULLY. I dont mind working it gets me out. you tend to let ivf take over your life and my mind starts wondering for hours. think of all kinds of things. even baby names.

yes my friends have all got babies. and they all get away with murdur with me. I have three close friends lisa she has four, michelle she has one boy lasy year. and my best friend emma she has a beutiful baby girl 2 yrs alishia. it is hard some times. Ive seen four of them be born. I spoil alisha like my own. though ive had loads of practice.

well i'll have to go it's injection time. i'll speak to you tomorow, and let you no how i get on. might be back on later.

talk soon

hi im back.
you know i only joined this site two days ago and im hooked. I thought i'll go and get ready now but ive loged back on.

How have you got on with your injections today. have you done it yet?

It's funny. when we go to hospital appointments. I never talk to anyone. everyone jusy sits so quietly in the waiting room you could hear a pin drop. It's nice to talk to someone who is going through the same thing, i try to talk to my friends but you cant expect them to understand. is it like that at your hospital?
